Lee's wife put off by New York fans

09:02 AM ET 10.26 | If it's up to Cliff Lee's wife, Kristen, the Rangers seem to have the inside track on signing her husband in the offseason. Perhaps the Rangers' greatest sales pitch simply was having Kristen sit in the visiting family section at Yankee Stadium during the playoffs. She says there were ugly taunts. Obscenities. Cups of beer thrown. Even fans spitting from the section above. "The fans did not do good things in my heart," Kristen says. "When people are staring at you, and saying horrible things, it's hard not to take it personal."

Well as the old saying goes "Happy wife, Happy Life". I do believe that the bidding is going to start and end with the Yankees and Rangers. The Yankees will most likely offer him the sweetest deal but the Rangers can offer him comfort and ease of mind and a smaller town feel. This might not mean much to a younger pitcher but Cliff is older and this will most likely be the last contract he signs so I think he has a tough decision.

Sounds to me like NY had some rotton people in the stands, you don't call a woman names, spit at her or throw beer, The Yankee's are a sore bunch of loosers. Realy low class.
MR NICE.

Fortunately for the Lee's, they're going to get "fat checks" with any team they choose.

Isn't that the Philly fans reputation?

Ohhhh, wouldn't it be hilarious if Yankee fans cost their team a shot at the premier FA this year. I bet Ranger management is dancing a jig after reading this.

Wasn't there something about Teixeira's wife not wanting to go to NY?

True, the Yankees will bid the price up regardless of whether they win.

Thats just what the Yanks do! They will drive up the price and even if they don't get him they at least know the other team had to put more $$ towards him and not to another player.

I said weeks ago it might come down to what Mrs. Lee wants.

Gee, 53,000 people packed in a stadium with beer, your team's losing, and some of the fans were offensive. I'm so happy that doesn't happen in Texas (or Philly, or LA, etc., etc., etc.) Grow up. I'm sure the Yankee wives and families were treated beautifully in Arlington where the Fenway-inspired "Yankees Suck" cheer could be heard continually throughout all three games.

I'm sure Giants fans will shower her with rose pedals, complement her in the stands, and hold the door open for her. No matter where she goes she will be targeted.

Exactly how did the fans know she was Cliff Lee's wife? Did she have a shirt saying Mrs. Cliff Lee?

Yes...
... and, in my view, drunken fans behavior is universally the same.

Maybe you've been fortunate enough to not be in the 'drunken fans' section.
