Jones updates stance on Romo, Phillips

08:57 AM ET 10.29 | Jerry Jones took the occasion of a Super Bowl countdown event to address the state of his injured quarterback and head coach. In the locker room [after Monday's loss], Jones was adamant that Romo would play when he was cleared to return, regardless of the team's record. Jones backed off that stance Thursday and acknowledged other factors will weigh into the decision. ... Jones issued his weekly comment about how he has never changed coaches during the season in response to the latest round of questions about Phillips. But there was an interesting twist when Jones was asked specifically about the NFL's uncertain labor future as it relates to Phillips. "I wouldn't try to or weight how that impacts decisions, but certainly you aren't going to see a lot of coaching changes as we go into next year," Jones said.

Exactly. What did he mean, if anything?

That whatever he says will be reported and posted on here.

You guys need to get some new material.

I bet it was eating Jones alive being at a Super Bowl countdown event knowing his team won't be the first to play a S.B. on their home turf.

October 29, 2010  09:37 AM ET

So Romo is my quarterback but maybe not and Phillips is my coach but I am stuck with his contract..........

Ahh, the interns are just ticked off. They thought SI was going to send them to London this weekend.

What they got mad about was that SI DID offer to send them to London. But, they told them they'd have to go to the Denver - San Francisco game, and watch the whole thing. No takers.

The Crypt Keeper has spoken!

The start of Superbowl hype and Halloween in the same week.

It just goes to show, Dallas is more interesting when they are losing than twenty five other teams when they are winning. And the "Crypt Keeper" is in Oakland, not Dallas. Pay attention.

Must be an election year.

It would truly suck if Jerry has to watch the Giants play the superbowl in his house.

October 29, 2010  10:14 AM ET

I meant exactly what i said ... now lets get some butts in seats for the Dallas Cowboys SuperBowl.

October 29, 2010  10:24 AM ET

One is broken, the other is useless.

Actually it shows no such thing, merely that the interns here on FN feel the need to publish this tripe. Hell, the Cowboys aren't even the most interesting team in their own city right now.

Why could he possibly want a coaching "change" next year? That would imply he has coaching this year...

October 29, 2010  11:17 AM ET

I think what hes sayin is if I fire Forrest Gump midseason a marquee guy like Cowher or Gruden will want guaranteed money. With the impending strike next year he prolly doesn't want to tie up money in a coach that isn't coaching.

I think it would drive him more crazy if the Houston Texans make it to the Super Bowl
