One of the best nights in Brandon Coutu's life quickly turned into one of the worst on Saturday. The Georgia kicker walked into his Athens home after kicking a game-winning field goal at Vanderbilt and found that burglars had ransacked the place and stolen almost everything of value and some of sentimental value, such as SEC championship and bowl gifts.

Could this be the start of " The Curse of the Dance?"

damn.... you should always lock your trailor.

October 16, 2007  09:30 AM ET

Sadly, you read about burglaries too many times in the Red & Black (school newspaper).

Kickers are akin to illegal immigrants...they have no rights, nor should they receive any public service.

October 16, 2007  12:53 PM ET

Well we know it wasn't anyone at Vanderbilt, they would have robbed him through the interweb.

Gifts????? The guy is getting kickbacks?

October 16, 2007  01:34 PM ET

Anyone need a PS3?

October 16, 2007  02:40 PM ET

A player gets stuff for going to bowl games. The bigger the bowl game, the better the gift. It's like a, "Thanks for giving us all of this money, so we'll give you a mountain bike." from the sponsor. It's pretty commonplace.

I see it is a slow day again. Poor kid...

...this headline is not necessary.

This would be a better headline if he had actually missed the field goal

October 17, 2007  03:36 PM ET

The gifts were probably some used j-straps, old footballs, maybe a tee from the game. I mean come on what kind of cool gifts is a kicker going to have??

October 17, 2007  11:30 PM ET

How is this a funny situation? Coming home to find your home broken in to is very demeaning and serious. This is not something to make jokes about! I hope they find the**** that did it because there's nothing worse than a damn thief!!
