Yankees have replacement for Jeter at short

08:13 AM ET 11.01 | Though a few dominoes will first have to fall, Eduardo Nunez may be the Yankees' next fulltime shortstop. Though no one in the Yankee high command is ever going to even speculate about the future after 2011 -- especially with the very sensitive contract negotiations with Jeter about to get underway -- but it's becoming increasingly clear the plan is to phase out Jorge Posada next season when his contract expires, opening up the DH slot for Alex Rodriguez, thereby allowing Jeter to move to third, making room for a more athletic shortstop, which would be the 24-year-old Venezuelan, Nunez, who hit .289 with 50 RBI and 23 stolen bases in 118 games at Triple-A Scranton this season.

It's time to make some moves like this. We need to infuse youth into the infield. I'm onboard with the Posada, A-Rod and Jeter moves. Hands off Mo, he's still the gold standard as the closer. However, the Yankees need to cut loose Burnett and Joba.

It's all those years of steroids catching up to him.... no really why is it any other guy seems to be ostracized for steroids except this guy? Why does he get a pass? He's the biggest **** of the bunch that did 'em.

Well, Jeter wasn't and isn't a better shortstop then Rodriguez and they gave that to him.

I'm amazed that no matter how times hitters see Rivera they haven't figured him out yet...AMAZED!!!
And yes, please add some freakin youth to the Yankee lineup. If Dynasties just reload then it time to reload. But these decisions are never easy. Let's just see if they can keep it together.

well it was Jeter's team, a team that had already won 4 rings. And ARod was able to make the transition.

Because he didn't try to cover it up or lie when he was caught. Fans forgive a guy who owns up and apologizes immediately. Just like Jason Giambi got a pass for the same reason. But people hate Bonds and Clemens and Palmeiro because these guys tried to get out of trouble in the scuzziest ways possible.
Another guy who is getting the proverbial "Steroid Pass": David Ortiz.
