According to Michigan International Speedway, a study has found that the track generated more economic impact on the area than the 2006 Super Bowl. The study, conducted by economist Gary Wolfram, said MIS's events generate more than $400 million in total economic impact, with more than $260 million in "direct economic impact," according to a news release from the track. The 2006 Super Bowl in Detroit generated an estimated $302 million, according to a study commissioned by the Detroit Super Bowl Host Committee.

They are getting to be old school now....
Who the hell can afford to spend any money by the time they buy a SB ticket? I am sure the Nascar fans out drink them!

October 17, 2007  01:39 PM ET

Heck, it's usually just corporate big wigs who get to attend the SB anyway... So, really no regular Joe's spending $$$$ elsewhere.. The Corpies fly in on their jets and jet back off afterwards... No hotel rooms, no dinners, no merchandise sales...

jackman, I'm torn. On one hand, I'd love to see a new facility with all the modern amenities but on the other hand I can't see ditching all that Bruton's done at the current site.
"Torn between two lovers.... Feelin' like a Fool" LMAO!!! I put music to everything.. Although, I was too young to remember who sang that piece.
