07:53 AM ET 11.02 | Not at first succeeding, Jim Irsay will try, try again at a later date. Recently spurned in his attempt at making Peyton Manning the NFL's highest-paid player, [Irsay] remains committed to making that happen. Irsay said Monday that he was "ready to roll" with a contract proposal to his four-time MVP quarterback during the Colts' recent bye week, but Manning declined the overture so he could focus on the season. Manning's contract expires at the end of the season. "They wanted to wait," Irsay said.

You mean he doesn't pay himself too?

November 2, 2010  08:04 AM ET

Is he his own agent as well?

November 2, 2010  08:11 AM ET

Refreshing. He knows he'll get paid, and he's not trying to embarrass the franchise...

November 2, 2010  08:15 AM ET

Will they sign him? I'm on pins and needles. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Guaranteed money for 2011. It's all about guaranteed money for 2011. CBA or no CBA, the top players want that.

Commish - do your job. Get the CBA in place and end all the uncertainty.

I wish he would hurry - it appears that a lack of a CBA is the hold-up to firing this friggin' coach down here.

The season is done anyway. Who knows what next year will be. Jerry has to pay cupcake anyway. He's just gonna ride this dog to game 16.

Good point. The owners pay Goodell. With so many of them ready to lynch their HCs, they should all be on the phone telling him to get his ass in gear and do the job.

Yep... he's not firing him.

Maybe the lockout will be a blessing in disguise in that he pays the guy and we don't see him.
