Kimmel's jokes upset MNF gang

Jimmy Kimmel's appearance on ESPN's "Monday Night Football" was his last. Kimmel, the host of ABC's late-night talk show, was put on early in the third quarter with the Giants leading the Falcons, 21-10, ostensibly to enliven a rout. He joked about where Joe Theismann was (fired and replaced by Ron Jaworski); cracked that it was Tony Kornheiser who got Theismann axed; asked Kornheiser and Jaworski if they bet on games (they played along); and said, "I'd also like to welcome Joe Theismann, watching from his living room with steam coming from his ears." The last remark was ignored by Kornheiser, Jaworski and Mike Tirico.

Who cares? Theismann has criticized hundreds of people over the years. Theismann is a chump and I'm glad he's not on the show any longer.

This is exactly what the network DESERVES when they invite all these yahoos into the broadcast booth during a live game. As a fan, I am not interested in what Jimmy Kimmel or Charles Barkley has to say WHILE I am trying to watch a game. NOTE- The current trio on MNF is the worst crew in 25 years.....

October 17, 2007  07:43 AM ET

Probably the only highlite of Monday nights game

October 17, 2007  07:43 AM ET

Howard Cosell's ghost could do a better job then these 3 clowns.

October 17, 2007  07:49 AM ET

Didn't Kimmel also make a suggestion about getting w/Kelly from the Regis show & saying that even though she is married he would go for her & w/ the election coming & w/a Mormon President, we could have multiple-wives.

October 17, 2007  07:49 AM ET

Oh no, we wouldn't want to hurt poor Thiesmann's feelings. The guy was horrible; the worst booth person in the history of the game.

I didn't get to see Jimmy "Jumped the Shark" Kimmel, but what the heII does ESPN expect to happen? Didn't they ever see any of his work on Fox's pre-game show. He rips people, he knows how bad Theismann is, and how boring Kornheiser and Jaws are, so he livened it up a bit. If he didn't do anything, Jimmy would be ripped for bringing down the show and not being funny. I hate ESPN.

Exactly these networks are trying to seek personalities so that there shows will appeal to more people outside of sports & these idiots don't know anything about sports or if they do it is spotty & then how do you edit out everything that they say when they only have a 5 second delay. They should have had Audio-Relay problems & just muted Kimmel right off the show. The Entertainment is the game, not in the booth & MNF has ruined it every since they went after Dennis Miller & now Tony the Joke Kornheiser. Mike & Mike would do a good MNF & they could bring in Mike Tirico.

October 17, 2007  08:11 AM ET

Kornheiser is the most annoying announcer that MNF has EVER had in the booth......network should have let him go along with Theismann. i don't mind listening to Jaws and Tiricom, but Tony has got to go!

October 17, 2007  08:11 AM ET

MNF does not care about "the game"..Its focus is to be entertainment while there is a game going on in the background....They are awful..So, Kimmel is not the problem, the format is. Even if he had not been a guest, the "announcers" would be awful..

October 17, 2007  08:11 AM ET

should be Tirico.....my bad.

October 17, 2007  08:12 AM ET

Memo to MNF: Get a sense of humor.

October 17, 2007  08:17 AM ET

Think it was pretty obvious from his demeanor, choice of words and speech that Kimmel was pretty smoked up. I actually like Tirico and Jaws in the botth but could do without Kornheiser. Since when do we the viewers need to be subjected to a barrage of jokes in order to watch a football game.
Worst crew by far was Mcguire, Theisman and Dennis Miller.

October 17, 2007  08:18 AM ET

I STILL prefer Tony to Theisman. that guy drove me nuts, and it was great when Kimmel cracked into him. He was horrid, and would just say the most stupid things just to hear his won voice. I was happy as a pig in s*** when I found out Theisman was off the air. But like nearly everyone before me said - what else could they expect from Kimmel? It was his acton Fox for years, till he pi**ed off Bradshaw and Howie enough for them to boot Kimmel off the show. Did they think he was going to come on and talk about the game? Or his passion for knitting? Give me a break.

October 17, 2007  08:23 AM ET

I don't remember McGuire, Theisman and Miller working on the same crew. That sounds painful though.

October 17, 2007  08:26 AM ET

I pretty much tuned out the volume on MNF games since they experimented with Dennis Miller. Maybe even before that. In fact, whatever happened to those wonderful games which had been broadcast without announcers? They should bring that idea back.

October 17, 2007  08:29 AM ET

So you put a comedian in the booth then get mad when he makes jokes. Unreal. And Joe ThEEsman is an arrogant idiot anyway.

October 17, 2007  08:39 AM ET

Why not have Paris, P Anderson, and Longoria........ratings would soar! The blowout in the background would be secondary.

October 17, 2007  08:44 AM ET

I think they oughta get rid of Cornhieser and find someone interesting... Jim Rome perhaps, Berman, Olberman... those guys would do

October 17, 2007  08:47 AM ET

OMG....this guy was HILARIOUS!!!!! Ten times more funny than those other dorks....... I mean that bald guy is a total dumbass...

Kimkel was the highlight of the game.....I rolled when he made the comment that there was more people up there in his booth watching the game than in the stadium.

Jimmy Kimmel tries too hard to be funny. His routine is old now.
