Burke stands up to 'a disgrace' among Leafs fans

08:36 AM ET 11.03 | Brian Burke would like Leafs fans to take it easy on Dion Phaneuf, who, before being injured Tuesday, was booed by the home crowd over the weekend. "All the time I worked in Vancouver I don't think I ever had a player booed," said Burkie, following the first period against the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night. "And I think it's really unfair to Dion because of the other things he's brought. ... I think he's given us solid defensive zone coverage. He's almost single-handedly changed the attitude of our team and the culture of our team. And I think it's unfair and frankly I think it's a disgrace."

Nope I agree with him! This is one of the reasons I like him. Helways stands up for his players, when they are being wronged. I don't think Phaneuf is the proper scape goat for a struggling team....

It was a good trade, unless you didn't see what ALL those players DIDN'T bring to the team daily. Phaneuf isn't the reason for T.O's slump. Booing him is ridiculous!!! IMO!
Don't kid yourself, Stajan, White, Mayers, etc etc etc were bad then, and have been no better now. Calgary won a couple of games, but in spite of last years Leaf pick-ups! Toskala, is.........gone, so he didn't last long in Calgary, nor should he.
