11:52 AM ET 11.04 | On Wednesday, officials announced that Gateway International Raceway would be shutting down operations. "Gateway is a tremendous facility in a great racing community, but we are simply unable to operate it with an acceptable return," said Denis McGlynn, President and Chief Executive Officer of Dover Motorsports. Hosting Nationwide and Trucks events since 1997, Gateway held its final event on Oct. 23.

I like NASCAR, and want to learn more about it!Why are there so many workers in the car pit stops?

You need tire changers, tire carriers, guys to fill the gas tank, and another to catch the overflow. And usually someone to clean the windshield and grill. I really like watching a well executed pit stop. It is very choreographed, and can be a thing of beauty. Hope that isn't overdoing it, but it is fun to watch.

Who let the Giants rookie in the room?

I guess I should be careful... Mr. Cain has a lot more comments than I do!

Good afternoon nascar fans, well my boat is up for the winter, nasty day to do it though, races at gateway were always pretty good, a darn shame it's over for them, great Truck races were held there. I guess the economy bug got them also. Shame

You will certainly remember the Edwards Keselowski dust up in the Nationwide this year.
Mr. Nice; I put my boat shoes away for the winter, I guess that's not the same. Right. LOL

NASCAR is strange.

Yes it is.

Eventually this will be about the France family...or Bruton Smith...buying Dover and taking away a date...or both dates.

Yes, because Cain brings so much to the table here. He wants a chance....stop asking dumb bass questions. I'm sure he's brighter than the question he posted.

Always sad when a racetrack closes.
