Notre Dame AD's role under scrutiny?

You have to consider that such a large university didn't have any kind of safety precautions in place is teaching young adults to lead is somewhat speculative.

Why wouldn't Brian Kelly be responsible? It was his decision to have an outdoor practice. Why would the AD be blamed? When I first heard about this story I couldn't believe they would jeopardize the life of a student by putting him in an unsafe environment.

Do you think?? Who else would have been responsible, if not Notre Dame?

I understand that, there was a caution label on the lift that stated, do not operate in high winds over 30 MPH. OSHA is also investigating the incident.

Blame Kelly, not the AD, Kelly was the one holding practice and was responsible for what took place on the practice field and the filming....Kelly should get suspended or fired.

There should be a criminal investigation imo

Working in an elevated scissor lift in high winds is idiotic. Sullivan and whoever put him up there were ignoring commong sense. That warning label shouldn't even have been necessary.

But, I'm sure Notre Dame officials are working on sainthood for Sullivan as compensation for getting him killed. The "miracle" required is that this hasn't happened before.

If Brian Kelly wanted to practice in the wind then he should have been up in that lift. Twenty year olds are fearless and don't think of the consequences.

I see your point, but if the kid was properly trained to be up in the lift, then he would have known that the wind at 50 MPH, was over the limit of the caution label on the lift. After all, that is why we have caution labels on equipment.

OSHA should fine the University for using the wrong equipment for the job, end of story.

I hate the domers as much as anyone, but FJJ is right on this one. Stuff happens I doubt Kelly has operated much heavy equipment in his life. Plus who really wants there head coach checking wind reports before practice most of us would be mad as hail if we heard our coach spent to much time worring about the weather before practice. There will be a better solution for filming practice at nd I doubt they want a repeat of this.

Mike Leach got fired for having a kid with a concussion sit in a shed out of the sunlight. Kelly causes a student's death because, to him, video of a single practice was more important than the student's safety and well-being, and what happens to him?
