09:15 AM ET 11.07 | Add No. 20-ranked Mississippi State football coach Dan Mullen, 38, to the Gophers' coaching search list of serious prospects. Word is it would take a $2 million per year deal to get Mullen, though. Meanwhile, insiders say former Boston College coach Jeff Jagodzinski remains a serious Minnesota candidate.

Mullen to Minnesota doesn't make sense. Heck, Mullen may be Gator one day. MSU loves Mullen and their in-state rival is on the ropes.

He won't. MSU will bump his salary and that is what this was all about anyway.

again --- WHY did they fire Glen Mason ---- STUPID STUPID MOVE.
That was an amateur/emotion decision after a blown lead to Texas Tech in a Bowl Game 4 years ago --- but Minnesota was as good as they've been in decades under Mason, they had a semblance of a defense, and they could RUN THE BALL --- which is essential in the Big 10.
Glen Mason should be a head coach somewhere.

Why would Mullen leave MSU? I know Mississippi State isn't a great program, but he's certainly got them on the right track. Plus, he knows the SEC. I figure if he left for a job, he'd wait for a good one to open.

That's an opinion. I have friends from Minnesota that have told me they would never go back there. Then again, never say never.

Because Glen Mason was NEVER going to get them to a New Years bowl. EVER! He could recruit offense but if you had followed Minnesota Football.....that Bowl Game was TYPICAL of how Mason coached. Be up by 20 something or 30 something and screw the pooch in the 4th Quarter. I think they were looking for someone to take the program to the next step and found the chute rather than the ladder. Oh well.
