Should Mack Brown have played Colt's brother at QB?

11:38 AM ET 11.07 | Bill Snyder pulled a fast one Saturday night. He started his backup quarterback. Too bad Mack Brown didn't follow suit. It's inexplicable that Brown didn't make a change at quarterback during the onslaught to give his No. 2 guy a taste of Football Bowl Subdivision ball in a road environment and spare Garrett Gilbert any more indignity after a career-worst five interceptions. Why not try Case McCoy? What would have been wrong with giving the freshman a chance to show what he can do with legitimate playing time in the second half when things were going so badly? After all, Texas needs to make good use of this louse of a season to learn for the future, and Mack might have had a peek to see if Case can someday become known for more than being Colt's younger brother.

Why not...unless you don't want to burn the redshirt...or is it already burned.

"?" Damn, my grammar is bad this morning!

And i thought Colt was a funny name to give your kid, must be a Texas thing.

I don't think simply replacing the QB addresses the problems this team has.

Van, did your parents, name you after a Ford or a Dodge "Van". LOL.

Not even close to addressing them. It wouldn't have solved a thing. there's a systemic problem throughout the team and each phase of the team and it gets worse with each loss. Okie Lite is going to lay 50 plus on them next week.

FJJ, what's the sentiment on Mack? Is there a strong push to begin the Will Muschamp era?

Supposedly didn't want to pull him and kick him harder while he is down. Season is lost, team is lost, Mack is lost and the team is in last place in B12 south.

if I didn't know better I'd swear you were talking about that team in Arlington

IMO, I don't think you should give up on Mack just yet. The Longhorns have had a rough season, but they will turn it around next year.

the real wonder is how this team ever pulled it together and beat the Huskers in Lincoln

Actually Case is an old Irish name meaning observant, alert and vigorous, I look forward to seeing if this is true of the boy on the grid iron.

Last in the B12S beats last in the independent, BigLEast, ACC etc... Take ND's cue (from every year), there is always next year.

Another interesting fact is the name Rockhead is an old Buckeye name meaning blockhead or a very dense heavy rock for a brain.

LMAO. Depending on Van's age, it could be an old "hippie" wagon! (VW van) There were several conceptions in those during the day. He could have conceived in one or been conceived in one. Your wit is great OT.

I feel for you and all Longhorn fans. I really do. Who would have thought this? Gilbert is really having a rough season but he shouldn't shoulder all of the blame. It is amazing that this program was in the NC game just last season.

Don't they have to win 2 of the last 3 just to become bowl eligible?

Ironically some are saying the opposite about WM. They see the D falling apart and have begun to question his ability as an HC. They want an experienced HC.Bottom line is there are stories of fire Mack going on right now.

I was wondering that myself. I was never sold on Muschamp being a head coach, for sure not a program on the magnitude of the Horns.

Not burned and the exact reason that he didn't play. He obviously hasn't shown enough in practice to burn his extra season.

That beats ND every time! Really blows to be a frightened irish fan!!

Deep Creek, yeah, a VW van, I almost forgot about those. I can just see Van wearing a "flower" shirt!! That's great, getting conceived in a VW Van, down by the river. LOL.
