07:27 AM ET 11.08 | Newcastle striker Andy Carroll is still in contention for England selection despite more lurid allegations about his private life. England coach Fabio Capello is expected to include Carroll in his squad for the friendly against France after being impressed by the 21-year-old striker. Carroll has denied any wrongdoing after reports that he romped with two women at Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan's house following the victory against Sunderland. It is also alleged that cocaine was taken into the house.

You will respect Beckham's authoritah! Great balls in by Becks, bad defense by Seattle, no midfield control for Seattle, not starting Fernandez again, no wing play... spelled a quick end for them. The set-piece goal was so blatantly obvious that as soon as the ball cleared the wall I said goal... Omar went thru and was standing on an island with nobody within 5 feet of him... the better team won, but Seattle does have a great foundation laid down for success - 2 years in, 2 playoff appearances.

Inter can't finish, Bayern can't hold a lead, TSO rolls on in the Madrid Derby, Arsenal lost to Toon, and Torres scored one of the finest goals I've seen in a long while.

Seems that Team England has a few new kids popping up for potential National Team service--should be interesting to watch develop....

Here's the link to the latest D-Wreck Show. A tune about "Things You Didn't Know About Your Favorite Footballers." Should bring a chuckle or two this morning:

I was also happy for Liverpool....

I was pissing my pants happy for the LA Galaxy...

Someone here last week say they love the MLS Playoffs? I love em too, but really, ONE high seed thru to the next round.... Really? ONE...

I dunno, to me it just seems a little fugged up to lose NY and RSL in the first round... But too be fair, neither played very well.

And two US Open Cup wins, which means we will see Seattle in the CONCACAF Champions League again next round.

San Jose vs Colorado in the Eastern Conference Finals.... makes sense, right?

I understand their desire to have SOME teams from the East in the playoffs to make it more of a national event... but c'mon... give em names like the Wales Conference and the Campbell Conference so our IQs don't suffer if this happens again... it can even have the East/West alignment in them, but calling them such is idiotic when 2 western teams represent the East...

But that is what makes it GREAT!

I think the clear cut winner of the league will end up being either LAG- the best team from start to finish during the regular season, or FC Dallas- arguably the best team in MLS since the World Cup.

On the other side to challenge one of those teams will be a decent squad in Colorado who also played pretty well throughout the season and have a good strike partnership, and some good wing and midfield play, or a team that has grown in a fairly short period of time (expansion team only a few years back) with some surging good players.

It makes for some entertaining matchups and is a lot of fun to watch in my opinion.

agreed, I like dramatic upsets in cup ties. BUT, this is to technically determine league champ, and MLS expects me to believe that SJ and FCD were really better teams the BY and RSL? sorry but know. I know we have the supporter's shield, but in the record books the one that counts could be one by a merely better-than-average team. not cool in my Book. MLS cup should be like the FA cup or league cup er something.

I agree... putting a West Coast team in the "East" bracket makes no sense at all.

In related news, I hear Don Garber sometimes calls his p e n i s a c l i t o r i s.

If LA go down and the 7th and 8th seeds keep winning this tournament, it just makes the whole regular season continue its meaninglessness.

I AM HAVING FUN R-HUSS... How many times do I have to say it!!!! I just think that naming the "playoff" champ the Winner of the League, is a damn shame... And if the last two seeds keep making the finals or winning, its gonna really turn the regular season into a farce.... Oh wait, they are already...

So when does Arena start to get some credit for his ability? Not to say he's revolutionizing the game, but think about what he's done with the roster since taking over the dumpster fire that Lalas and Ruud had created. COMPLETELY changed it and is on pace to take arguably the worst team in MLS when he inherited it to its second consecutive final. And he did so by building one of the best young backlines in the league through the draft and combining it with a tough midfield.

I like Sigi and was pissed over the way LAG treated him, but he was completely outcoached. Seattle has the talent to beat LAG.
