Boise State's title hopes over?

08:18 AM ET 11.08 | At season's end, TCU may be more responsible than anyone for shutting Boise State out of the national title picture. The Boise State football team's national championship hopes took a big hit Sunday when TCU moved in front of the Broncos in all three human polls. TCU, which dominated Utah on the road Saturday, is No. 3 and Boise State is No. 4 across the board. TCU has a bigger lead in the computers -- the Horned Frogs are No. 2 and the Broncos are No. 5. Combined with the voting, the Frogs now are closer to No. 1 Oregon in the BCS standings than they are to Boise State.

Who's #1.
The hype's over for the smurfs. Boise State hasn't played any stiff competition since Game 1 against VTech. Move to a man's conference then let's talk about title hopes.

Still deserving.

I agree but this was not unexpected. the only shot they have is to get a #1 ranking in one of the human polls and that won't happen without the 3 in front of them losing. But even if that happens ESPN will begin to tout Alabama as the best team in the land.

If the BCS had just put TCU and Boise St in separate bowls last year this may be even more interesting this year.

IMO nobody wants any part of TCU right now. That may be the true for BSU also if they have weeks to prepare. Pretty amazing what these programs have done with lower starred recruits.

Just imagine, TCU beats down UFelons last year in a bowl, while BSU pummels the Cincy Bearcats. Whole different argument now.

Just all the more reason their must be a college football playoff. Could you imagine if Butler hadn't had the chance to play for a national championship because they played in the horizon league. All this talk about how they don't play anybody is because the so called "big boys" don't want to go to boise and play them. Any other team that has been in the top 25 over the last 5-10 years hasn't had problems scheduling home and home out of conference games yet when the broncos try it they are avoided like the plague and instead the "big boy" schools bring in the little sisters of the poor for a beat down.

Agree. They were conveniently lined up against each other last year in the bowl game. I think the year before also.

+1 That altruistic crap about allowing both to play in a BCS bowl was just that...a bunch of crap. The powers that be didn't want too "power" conference teams embarrassed in bowl games last year.

My bad two instead of too! My English teacher taught me better!

TCU's last loss is to Boise St in last year's bowl game.
Boise St's last loss is to TCU in the year before lasts bowl game.

Very interesting!!

UF does not get beat down in BCS bowls. A Buckeye should know better.

November 8, 2010  09:39 AM ET

Both BSU and TCU would have beaten Cincy last year.

November 8, 2010  09:42 AM ET

Great -- so we get another beat down like Georgia/Hawaii or Florida/Cincinnati. Auburn would smoke either Boise St. or TCU, and I'm a Gator fan. TCU beat Baylor who beat Texas which is 4-5. Boise St. beat VPI, which is a 2-loss team -- one of those losses to FBS powerhouse James Madison -- in a lousy conference. Don't get me wrong, I love an underdog and I love the Smurf Turf, but a dose of reality is needed. By the way, where is Sen. Hatch and all the other Utahans who were going to amend the Sherman Act because Utah was closed out of the BCS a couple of years back? What an impressive showing by the Utes last weekend.

Youre 100% correct. TCU spanking Florida and Boise spanking the Big 10s best would end all those power conferences claims that Boise and TCU just couldnt beat us if they lined up across the field from us. Its a joke that they paired them up like they did last year.

They both would have spanked Florida as well.

Not likely. A lot of people said that about Ohio State and Sooners.

Good lawyer...you conveniently left out the a** whipping Utah put on Bama in the Sugar Bowl. Don't want all the information out...just the part that helps your case!
