08:10 AM ET 11.09 | Passed over for the Cubs' opening, Ryne Sandberg may land on his feet with one of the NL's top teams. [Sandberg] is among the candidates for the Phillies' managerial vacancy at triple-A Lehigh Valley, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Chuck LaMar, the Phillies' assistant general manager in charge of player development, said the team has just started the process of interviewing for the managerial vacancy at Lehigh Valley. "We hope to have it filled in the near future," LaMar said. "I'm not going to comment beyond that."

Can you imagine the uproar amongst Cub fans if Sandberg took this job, then someday got the Phillies job and won a World Series?

This is a shot at Cubs Mgt.

He should coach the Cubs!

I think Sandberg is lining himself up to replace LaRussa when he retires next July.

That would be an even bigger uproar if he won a World Series as a Cardinal

That alone might be worth the risk.

Well, I was hoping you would grab on to the "next July" part of the comment. But, I guess I can't have everything.

Any news on a Pujols extension? A $16M option for next year & then he's on the open market. Are the Cards going to let that happen?

No. It won't happen.

Very sad to see Ryno in another uniform other than the Cubs. I respect this man more than any other player in the history of baseball. Class Act all the way. He gave almost 30 years of hard work to the Cubs organization. I'll root him on no matter where he goes. Good luck Ryno.
