Heat coming up too small?

08:07 AM ET 11.10 | Forty-six points from Paul Millsap tends to raise an eyebrow. When the Heat acquired Chris Bosh and LeBron James to join Dwyane Wade during the offseason, one of the perceived liabilities surrounding the team's championship potential was its lack of dominant big men. With center Joel Anthony starting at an undersized 6-foot-9, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas, 35, serving as his backup, Miami appeared to lack a traditional big man to work the paint alongside its Big 3. And Tuesday night's 116-114 loss to Utah at American Airlines Arena highlighted the issue.

Can you say: OVER-RATED!

COBRA warned everyone before the season and I'll stick to it, the heat do not have the size to win it all and are pitiful defensively down in the paint. Sorry Miami fans, until bosh becomes the best defender on the team, I have to doubt their chances in the postseason. I said post decision they will win 60 or so games, be hella exciting to watch likes nonstop highlight real, but would lack the bodies in the paint to truly win it all. So far my preseason prediction of lakers vs celtics again is right on schedule

If you thought they were title favorites then yes they appear overrated. I expected them to have a black hole defensively in the post and I have not been proven wrong. Until bosh is the best defender on that team, they will always have a weakness in the paint

Getting him to do that is like asking Kobe if he will stop trying to win rings...
"NOT A CHANCE!"

The only center move the Heat could make, is trying to get Dampier to sign for VET MIN, I know Damp not superman...but would be better than what they got!

this is so far shocking!!! unbelievable!!! they just seem so mortal. oh well, humm.. looks like the Bron Bron made the wrong DECISION!. It's even more unbelievable the heat have almost the same records as the CAVS LOL.

Pat Riley needs to bring back Shaq to add size in the post.

November 10, 2010  09:20 AM ET

Three things we've learned so far this season:
1) Bosh is soft in the post. People talk about Millsap's 3's from this game, but for the Heat D what was most revealing is what Millsap was doing to him on the block--asserting position, pushing him out of lanes, and getting bucket after easy bucket.
2) Forget about Big Al replacing Boozer, Millsap has already done it. His numbers this season are comparable to Boozer's. If last night wasn't a fluke, and Millsap really has developed a 3-point shot that he is just starting to tote out, the Jazz are going to have a 4 and a 5 deep threat (when Okur comes back) that can spread bigs to the perimeters and open up the middle for Deron Williams to pick apart.
3) Lebron is taking his new pass-first mentality too far, and it hurts the Heat. Last night he passed up six wide open shots three of which he probably could have dunked. The Jazz adjusted and made Lebron look like half the man he used to be.

That's true if you look at it all the games they've lost has come at the hands of big men - Garnet, Okafor and now Millsap.

then again does a broken down shaq help or hurt the celts?

Hurt. Shaq isn't hardly a starter anymore and a shell of his former self as we all know, but sending him to the heat would be a huge mistake as he fits the bill for exactly what they are missing. I agree with an earlier poster, why would boston do anything to help MIA? By keeping shaq, they are just re-enforcing the big bodies to deploy against MIA and others. Speaking of those 'others', they got shaq to have a big body against LA in the finals, why would they give up one of their big additions in the offseason, even if it would hurt MIA (I dont think it would at all..). The celtics are looking at and preparing for the Lakers, not Miami. The Heat will just be another notch on the belt for my arch rival celtics.

Bosh is playing like garbage.....plain and simple....if that doesnt change they dont have a prayer against Boston.

Bosh is playing like he always has man. I told you months ago that they would lose for this exact reason. If Lebron James is this teams best post defender, they don't have a chance vs any of the good teams with size and depth. Bosh has always been incredibly soft to the point where Shaq has referred to him as the rupaul of the NBA for the last 2 seasons, all of a sudden he goes to MIA and he's supposed to become a man? I've said it before the season when everyone was jock riding this heat team and I'll stick to it, until Chris bosh becomes that teams best defender then they can't win a title. And since the lockout will force MIA to break up the ego trio next year, their window may be smaller then we think. Although at this point my preseason prediction of them trading James during the lockout won't happen, Chris Bosh has just made himself way too expendable.
