08:24 AM ET 11.10 | Former walk-on Matt McGloin ralied his way right into a starting role. Coach Joe Paterno made it official today during his weekly news conference at Beaver Stadium. "We're going to go with [McGloin]," Paterno said. McGloin, a redshirt sophomore, has thrown seven touchdown passes and only one interception in the past 11 quarters. ... [Rob] Bolden returned to the starting lineup Saturday against Northwestern, but was pulled after two series. McGloin rallied Penn State from a 21-point deficit to a 35-21 victory that gave Joe Paterno his 400th career coaching victory.

From walk on to starting qb. Not bad. Now just keep winning.

Homan is returning to the line up this week, just in time for some more interceptions, sacks and just total mayhem on the knitting lions.

GO BUCKS!!!!!!!!!

Penn State hasn't been relevant in 20 years. They always play 3 or 4, usually 4, very weak out of conference teams at the beginning of the year then they go into the Big 10 schedule and feast on the bottom feeders.

Do you post anything that is positive?

He is going to walk into a shoe filled with rabid Buckeyes on a mission to win a Big Ten championship. Noble gesture from Paterno but stupid. Not that he has a choice because no matter who starts it is going to be a nightmare.

The title says, he "settled on a QB". Sorry about his luck this week.

It's about time, the true freshman looked lost and has almost lost all his confidence. Let the Sophmore take the reins. Joe needs to consider retiring now that he got #400, he was an Awesome coach but he is over, around up and over the hill again.

Go for 500 wins, JoePa!

Where do you get all the great Avatars? Know they can't be from Michigan.

Too bad John Wooden wasn't able to keep coaching into his 90's. Imagine what UCLA B-Ball would be now....

Do think JoPa has some of the character strengths of Wooden, but don't know about his program philosophy.

There is not too much positive to post. Just look at the Cam Newton situation at Auburn. This situation reeks to the high heavens and to think that this punk might win the Heisman and his school will mostly likely play for the NC is blasphemy. But, then again, this is the SEC what can you expect.

Joe Pa is no John Wooden. John Wooden won many championships and Joe Pa only two over forty plus years as a head coach. John Wooden retired at the top of his profession while Joe is just a figurehead at 83 years of age. I would compare Paterno to Strom Thurmond at 96.

don't completely agree or disagree. Part that I agree on, is that until this year with Bama you are right about their recent OC games. But look at their bowl record and bowl opponents. They have knocked down some impressive competition not just recently but historically. I think labeling them "irrelevant" is way way to harsh. They are a very good and competitive CF team.

Penn State has finished in the BCS top 10 each of the past 2 seasons, and 3 of the past 5. That includes wins over LSU, Florida State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Oregon State, Ohio State (x2), and Wisconsin (x3). I'm not saying that makes them ELITE, but irrelevant is definitely not the right word.

So Ohio State is going to put up more points on the Penn State D than Alabama, Iowa, and Michigan did?

OSU's signature win is against Miami and they stink.
