Mangini using injured QB as a ruse?

08:02 AM ET 11.10 | Coming off a defining win, Eric Mangini is in no hurry to give his next opponent any indication of who will start for him at quarterback. A day after [Colt] McCoy beat the previously 6-1 Patriots, Mangini continued to float the notion that Seneca Wallace could be in the mix -- although the ruse is getting increasingly difficult to believe. "[McCoy's] making the discussion harder and harder each week," said Mangini. "We'll see where Colt and Seneca are and we'll have that discussion. But [McCoy's] definitely making it a lot harder."

At this point, there is no decision.

Colt is the man.

Mangini's whole career has been a ruse. Why stop now?

November 10, 2010  08:11 AM ET

OOOOOOO, crafty.

It's an interesting predicament the Browns are going to be in at the end of the season. It sure seems as if Magini and his staff has these guys playing hard and believing they can win - at this point, they clearly aren't the worst team in their division. What's going to happen at the end of the year if the Browns finish 6-10, even 7-9 while playing hard all season and losing some really close games?? I mean, think about it right now, they could easily have 2 more wins in games they were leading close to the end. I don't like Mangini as much as the next Browns fan, but it's going to be awfully tough to call for his head when his team is playing like they are.

Who is he fooling??? The REAL McCoy era is in full swing.

At some point it just might occur to the ever crafty Mangini that the other teams is hoping he's stupid enough to put Wallace in.

Bigger conundrum for Browns fans...

Nov 14 NYJ
Nov 21 @ JAC
Nov 28 CAR
Dec 05 @ MIA
Dec 12 @ BUF
Dec 19 @ CIN
Dec 26 BAL
Jan 02 PIT

I see 5 "very winnable" games in there and three "we can win" games... The Browns could very easily be 8-6 going into the final two games.

What is he going to bring in a cutout of Peyton Manning and claim that he hs a new guy under center this Sunday?

very good point - with the Bungles imploding, suddenly above .500 does seem plausible

He is fooling a lot of people by pretending to be a real HC

Don't look on the Browns's sideline for the fat guy in that picture. The Mangina has lost a buttload of weight. Maybe Wade should have tried "The Mangina Diet."

Y'know what's really sad? There's such a shortage of coaching this year that even if Mangina is let go, he looks better than Wade, Lovie, Chilly, Josh, Singletary, Foxy, Gailey and probably others. Cowher can't coach all of these teams.

Yes he has lost a lot of weight ...

Cowher will get to pick a team, and Gruden may get to pick one, too.

Cleveland has a qb?

You know what's really sad? They all are. They should all chug on over to mamby pamby land where maybe they will find out how to coach a team...successfully!

Every time I see a Colt McCoy story, I think we could've drafted him instead of giving up that pick for McNabb....
