Vikings player: We win despite Childress

08:05 AM ET 11.10 | Though coming off a win, Vikings coach Brad Childress may head to Chicago with a cloud above his head. [Childress] might get ousted when -- and if -- the Vikings notch a seventh loss. The Vikings rallied from a 14-point deficit with less than five minutes left to force overtime and beat the Cardinals. Afterward, though, nary a player publicly cast a life preserver toward the beleaguered coach. "We know that Childress doesn't have our backs, so why should we have his?" one player said. "We're playing for us, and we're winning despite him."

Childress forgot that if a HC is to be hated, he is also to be feared.

No one on that team fears a guy sporting THAT look!

Promote Leslie Frazier before he gets away

"We're playing for us, and we're winning despite him."

It's good to see the obvious hasn't escaped that locker room.

There's that damn hat.

November 10, 2010  08:24 AM ET

Come to think of it, they haven't exactly been 'winning' much of anything of late.

"Vikings player says team winning despite Childress". Ok and where is the news again? This has been ongoing for well over a year. Seems to be an unintended side effect of the favre pill. First he loses favre then the team. I wonder if deep down despite the winning last year, if chilly regrets bringing favre in and losing his team in the process

So, who do you want to lose this weekend, Childress-Favre or Lovie-Cutler? We could have two coaches playing for their jobs on Sunday.

it only gonna be "newsworthy" once the aformentioned player turns out to be the ole' man....

It doesn't really matter. Wade already won the 'who gets fired first' bowl. These bozos couldn't even win that!

Hasn't Favre been coaching the team all along...and handling the GM duties while he's at it? Whew, it's a wonder a guy even has time to send pix of his Mr. Winky to the gals in the office...

I bet Chili is done in Minny unless somehow they win out... Favre will likely retire or be carried off the field in the coming weeks.

Lovie, probably done in Chicago...I think the Bears are stuck with Cutler, at least another year or so

the Gilligan hat picture has been recycled (like this story) about 10 too many times

Well, they said he had a cloud over his head. How else can he protect that chrome dome from the rain?

November 10, 2010  08:51 AM ET

As long as you have AP, there is always a strong chance for a W.

November 10, 2010  08:53 AM ET

You'd think they would finally find a new pic for this guy. Still looks like a poster for "stranger danger".

November 10, 2010  08:53 AM ET

They kill me with these, "A player said" stories... Fkouttahere.

Speaking of ships, did you hear what they're serving on that Carnival cruise ship that lost power off Mexico? Spam. Real, honest-to-gosh WTF-is-this-stuff pressed pork by-products in a can.

Can you imagine going on a cruise and getting served Spam?
