08:23 AM ET 11.10 | The Golden Gophers may cast their glance to the west for a Midwest native to become their next head coach. The latest word is that the University of Minnesota has San Diego State's Brady Hoke on its list of serious football coaching prospects. Hoke's Aztecs are 7-2 and will play at No. 3 Texas Christian (10-0) on Saturday. Hoke, 52, who is from Kettering, Ohio, coached defense at Michigan for eight years before becoming head coach at alma mater Ball State, where he finished 12-1 in 2008. ... Meanwhile, Colorado's firing of Dan Hawkins [Tuesday] morning adds competition to the Gophers' coaching search. And Arizona State could have a head coach opening soon.

I don't know if He would leave already. How long has he been at SDSU?

This is only Coach Hoke's second season at Monteczuma Mesa. I doubt he's ready to make another job change just yet.

Ever hear of a kid named Lane Kiffin?

Saw SDSU dismember my NMSU Aggies first game of the season (9/11). The Aztecs looked like a disciplined and well-coached team. Coach Hoke appears to have good credentials. He might do well at Minny.

HarleyMarlboro, were you aware that the Aggies are scheduled to play a road game at Minnesota next season?

i would say this to any coach THINKING about applying for the MN job..."be careful what you wish for. you might get it."
this job will not fill your ego...it is the tar baby of college football.

May be the dumbest comment that I have read so far, on any thread.

Lane Kiffin is the exception; he would sell his own father out if he thought it would help him recruit some #1 draft pick....

If RR is to be fired, Hoke was 2nd on my list for Michigan behind Harbaugh. It would be a great hire for Minnesota.
