08:19 AM ET 11.11 | According to Torii Hunter, Arte Moreno will have to out-bid the Red Sox for Carl Crawford. Hunter, who speaks regularly with Crawford, said on Wednesday that he expected the Angels and Red Sox would be the finalists to sign him. "The Yankees are not going to go after him," Hunter said. "They've got Cliff Lee. Boston might be the team. "I think Boston and the Angels, that will be the bidding war." The Angels have identified Crawford as their primary target in free agency, and they are prepared to make the left fielder the first $100-million player in club history.

Exactly! Yea, that's it Angels, go overpay for another fringe player. That plan has worked so well for you

things haven't turned out for the mets, but they still have a base of Beltran, Reyes, Wright and Santana....its the other boobs that didn't fulfill expectations. my point is that crawford in the large park would be a much better option than say Bay...they should've passed on Bay and waited a year.

I think Beltrans done.......arthritic knees don't get better, just worse over time.

me too...my point was that you couldn't really fault the mets for signing him b/c he was young and had put up great numbers. his decline probably is the result of roid use..

Or being a bean eater

Pretty weak race if you ask me

I am convinced the NFL threads are really tunnels to Mexico

It will be a battle for Carl Crawford and for a player like him who is on the rise with his speed and good average, he could end up in either place but the Red Sox are trying to bolster their bullpen and get some bats in there with David Ortiz getting old and Jason Varitek nearly done for his career as captain. But the Red Sox could move Jacoby Ellsbury to left field and play Crawford in center or just leave Crawford in left field where he usually plays and keep Ellsbury in center field while JD Drew plays right field but then Mike Cameron goes to waste because these three are everyday players and JD Drew is the one of the three outfielders on that team that is most likely to get hurt and Mike Cameron doesn't even play his position. The Red Sox need to figure out these issues and work them out but I'm sure they'll get it done.

I'm not an angels fan but $100 for Carl Crawford??????????? He's biggest asset is his speed and I'm guessing for $100 its going 2 be a 6 or 7 year deal meaning he'll be locked up til his mid 30's by then he's top asset will diminish.........knock yourself out LA but you could prolly sign him for less than that

I have none i'm trying 2 understand your point, where you coming from with that comment...........

His laid back personality would suit Anaheim perfectly. I'm not too sure he would feel comfortable playing in Boston under the constant media scrutiny.
