McGrady killed Carmelo-Knicks deal

08:47 AM ET 11.14 | If the Knicks did not make the Tracy McGrady/draft pick trade with the Rockets last February, there's a good chance Carmelo Anthony would be a Knick today -- alongside Amar'e Stoudemire. The future assets that could have gone this fall to Denver instead went to Houston president Daryl Morey last winter -- as TNT's Steve Kerr recently pointed out. The "T-Cap" trade opened up cap room for two maximum contract players, but the Knicks only got one. And T-Mac turned into a bust, now playing in Detroit.

it really does not matter b/c if Melo wants to come to the knicks, he just has to wait until the summer when the knicks can sign him outright. Melo just needs to NOT sign any extensions and he can get his wish to play with Amare and the knicks. Its that simple. Once denver realizes this, they will trade him for whatever the knicks offer so they do not lose him for nothing.

They won't, they won't and they will.

well as the year goes on the knicks offer will become less and less knowing they will get him w/being able to keep chandler/galo also.

Hang it up, Bro.

How many more excuses will the NY post write about why the Knicks didn't land Melo

November 14, 2010  09:32 AM ET

would be funny if the knicks ended up on the feb deadline with Nash and Melo along with amare for a run for the playoffs.

Shoulda, woulda, didnt. Why is Walsh around again? His master plan of getting Lebron or one of the top 3 from south beach didnt work. Knick fans are calling for D'antoni's head but who is it who hired him? knowing full well hes not a defensive minded coach. They need to get to the root of their problems and fire Walsh. He's too old, hes not in touch with current players.

Exacly.......I think the R in T &R stands for re-hashingCan we beat a dead horse anymore? They tried to land 2 max FA's and they failed.......What is current is how the jazz are showing alot of heart out thereWhch I wish my knicks had

You are on fire this morning, jgb. I am appalled by how the Jazz have not been mentioned once on these threads instead of re-hashing old crap! And every one was talking about how Heat gave that game, blah, blah, as if the Jazz got a freebie win that night. They earned it with their best player on the bench in the entire OT. They just overcame huge leads to come back and beat the top two teams in the East and a top five team in Atlanta, playing AWAY from home. Give that TEAM some credit. I don't care if the Triangle doesn't require a true PG, I would love Williams in LA. A star with no drama, no trade demands or innuendos; just-give-me-the-ball and 24 seconds on-the-clock-please type. Every team in the NBA needs a Deron Williams.

While I am at it, what the F is wrong with Baron Davis? Finally, Griffin is healthy and playing well as expected. But Davis has to stink it up like this? The dude is walking around in Santa Monica like the NBA season isn't even underway!

And Arenas finally had a good game last night. And in true Wizards fashion, they lost the game and perhaps, Wall to an injury. Some teams just don't catch a break, do they?

Sorry about your Knicks' poor start though. Haven't seen any of their games yet. What happened to Turiaf? And Randolph hasn't yet had one of those games he's capable of. You know, I say, get Zach back from Memphis for Amare for Knicks' sake. At least, he won't be killed on the boards and might actually score better and more efficiently than Amare. And I think he has an expiring contract. So that's just the Knicks type of player, no? Jk. )

Why blame this on T-Mac? If we're all in agreement that this trade hurt the Knicks, how come there's no heat on Walsh?

November 14, 2010  10:57 AM ET

If, coulda, woulda--blah, blah, blah. If your Aunt had balls, she'd be your Uncle.

Lets not forget that for two year all they could talk about is how Lebron is coming to New York. So now we look forward to two years of Melo going to the Knicks stories. Have of them will be about how Melo wants to go to New York. And the other half will be how Isiah, Donnie, T-Mack, or the ball boy screwed up the teams chances of getting Melo.

..... I can't take it.....Randolph was hurt and is being worked back in- but the guy seemslost out threre....I'm thnking (HOPING) that he's actually trying to play defense, but because no one else is...that is the reason he's looking confused

Awww....noble Randolph...trying to play defense and Stuff. lol....but you mean to tell me you can't tell if a player is trying to play defense? No wonder he ain't seeing so many minutes. lol...

Yeah, that Baron Davis **** is pissing me off. He is the highest paid player on the team, supposed to be a veteran leader. He seems to have no heart at all. He should be playing for D'Antoni, not that the Knicks deserve another mini Curry.

True as long as the new CBA doesn't reduce the cap too much. I think they are on the books for around 42mil next season as of now. If the new CBA sets the cap lower they wont be able to max deal someone.
