Muschamp's future in Georgia?

09:59 AM ET 11.14 | The Denver Post reported Saturday that Colorado wants to talk with Georgia head coach Mark Richt about replacing the fired Dan Hawkins. If Richt were to land the Colorado job - which seems like a long shot - Texas defense coordinator Will Muschamp would probably be on the short list of Georgia replacements. Muschamp was a former safety and defensive co-captain for the Bulldogs.

Why would Muschamp want to go to the SEC which has now become the Wild Wild Southwest, what with cheap shots being overlooked and QBs getting bought and infractions being ignored?

Doesn't Muschamp have a contract that states he'll be the next head coach at Texas?

I know the "non high profile" schools have to attract up and coming assistants or ex "high profile" HCs. Don't the "high profile" schools have enough status to demand someone with successful head coaching experience? Or am I missing something?

Some assistants are certainly worth the risk, and Muschamp is one of them. Look at Dan Mullen at MSU, or, better yet my own beloved 'Noles. Jimbo was never an HC before taking over for Coach Bowden this year, and I think he's done one hell of a good job thusfar.

Muschamp knows that ship in TEXASS is sinking.. He needs to abandon ship... Recruits are running like rats.. Mack Brown is attacking Lee Corso and telling people he cant trust his players and coaches.. What a classless group of monkeys running that show in Austin.. Week after week, loss after loss, I smile... These guys wont go .500 this year, that says something about their headcoach.. He is the captain, he is the guy that chases the recruits and look at where they are, they have the drivers seat in the richest recruit state in the country. Blue chippers have grown up dreaming about playing for the Horns and he cant get them organized??? UT Boosters, get your checkbooks ready, this will get ugly next year..

Judging from his incoherent string of insults for me last night, he is a very confused UGA fan.

...what?

Muschamp is definitely losing some of that hot HC propect status, primarily on the basis of this season.

A lot of Bulldog bloggers still want him, or Kirby Smart.

Of the two, I'd say Muschamp is more likely to jump ship, but still not very likely.

I don't think the Texas situation is as dire as it seems right now. A little perspective will do wonders. Mack Brown didn't suddenly forget how to run a team. The coaching staff just didn't figure out the right recipe with this group of players. They'll get it together next season.

I don't think Muschamp is losing any luster; the problems are all on the offensive side of the ball. Texas' defense is 5th in the nation.

Be that as it may, they're giving up 32 ppg in their 6 losses this season.

That smells at least a *little* like some D issues, if you ask me.

Yeah, but a lot of that could be due to turnovers. When you've got an offense giving away the ball as many times as Texas', some of those scores will be due to pick-sixes and the like, and from the other offense being given good field position. Texas' defense gives up 4.1 yards per play, which is tied for 3rd best. I think that's a good metric.

LOL... Not even close.. I think youre an idiot for admitting to being a Tech fan.. the ACC,,,, REALLY? I think there will be a Conference ranking before there will be a playoff, and you guys wont sniff a BCS Bowl. I cant stand UGA, or the ladies from Gtech.. Again, leave the football to us and you guys keep building some log cabins for us.

Ummmmmm, Texas is 4-6, your stats dont matter Tech lady.. LOSSES for the Tsips is what matters.. Again... there is a shortage of Log Cabins, help us out a little

Im an OU grad, so you can shut up now. That beat down we laid on you a couple months ago would have been worse if Bobby didnt have some compassion for his little brother.. Just be quiet and try to go get a trophy for the soon to be relegated ACC.. Conference relegation will be here before a playoff and either way, FSU hasnt mattered in almost 20 years. Your highest ranked team lost to a DII school.
