The Marlins worst trade ever?

08:16 AM ET 11.15 | The players moved out of Florida over the weekend have something in common. [Now] that the Marlins have closed the book on Cameron Maybin and Andrew Miller, trading the two key pieces of their 2007 salary dump with the Detroit Tigers within a 24-hour span, it's time to put that mega-deal into perspective. Of the six players the Marlins acquired from Detroit 35 months ago for Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera, a potential Hall of Famer, only two remain: middle reliever Burke Badenhop and minor-league pitcher Dallas Trahern, who missed last season with an arm injury.

Ahhhh hahahahaha!

Trade was good- but miller will be good in the bullpen and Maybin is a decient OF that was never liked by management in Miami...

they will be better elsewhere. but yeah- Tigers won the trade- but lost in lieu of offering a 3 year contract to Willis as soon as thery did... Ugh...

November 15, 2010  08:50 AM ET

I hear the White Sox just traded Beckham and Sale for Uggla...

November 15, 2010  08:51 AM ET

I'm sorry.

Just wanted to see if CSFs heart would stop when he read that...

Just kidding.

Thats a little unfair to the Marlins because Cabrera was clearly the best player in the deal and they couldn't give him the money he was looking for so they moved him in a deal for what many people considered at the time elite prospects in Miller and Maybin.

Win some- lose some.

That same year Tigers traded Jiar Jurrjens and Gorkys Hernandez to the Braves for Renteria...

sighs.

Shall we bring up the John Smoltz for Doyle Alexander trade. The Braves love the Tigers. Who ya got for us this year?

SI has lost control, that's for sure. Not that they've had any before.

I think they pushed Miller too soon. Control was a big problem for him. I still think he has the talent to be a good starting pitcher. He's still only 25.

Ever notice all these spammers are from New York, NY? Me thinks it's Brian Cashman, looking for a little extra money to sign Cliff Lee.

Boston just picked him up for nothing but a average middle reliever.

Thats right... where's Captain Hindsight on this one? Really at the time it appeared a pretty solid trade for both teams.

If he can fix his control/command issues, it's worth a flyer.

No- what I found humerous was this was the trade that purged Detroit of talent for the last few years... everyone said- of Detroit sold too much on the Cabrera trade. The farm is decimated- blah, blah, blah...

Ha!

Looks like we never had it to begin with.

Should be interesting to see how new pitching coach Curt Young works with some of these pitchers.

Power arm lefties arent easy to come by. Miller always has control issues and was always good for an inning or two- but no one would put him in the bullpen. I think he will work very well in Boston. This might be where he finally puts it together...

I dont think there is a Tiges fan in America that still doesnt feel like they die a little more every day they are reminded of that.

Thanks... By the way...

Propects are so hit and miss. Even the Braves terrible trade for Teixeira to the Rangers only cost them a SS and a closer who actually start in the bigs. I wouldn't say that not having Elvis Andrus and Neftali Feliz is a crushing blow. Good players, but the Braves already have good players in those positions. Saltelimachea was supposed to be the center piece and he's been a bust.

I hear the Braves are dangling Chipper Jones for Austin Jackson.
