07:54 AM ET 11.16 | There was a time Jeff Reed, who has taken the high road in not knocking Heinz Field as a poor place to kick, might have bit his tongue. "I'm not one to make excuses," Reed said. "I'll take the credit for the miss. It was a great snap, a great hold, great protection. ... If you've played any kind of sports in your life, you realize that what we play on is not very good turf." ... [Regarding the fans:] "If you're not perfect in this city, man, then you're going to hear about it. It's been like that for nine years, and why would they stop now?"

Jeff Reed just punched a one way ticket out of town, even if his points are valid.

And it doesn't help when your team continues to get spanked by the Pats.

"I'll take the credit for the miss."? If you playing for the other team while you're in a Steelers jersey during that miss, yeah, take the "credit for the miss."

Dear Mr. Snyder & your Redskins,

Hi. It???s me. Your favorite fan. The only fool stupid enough to root for the Redskins daily in the SI threads. Today is bitter sweet, and exciting for me. After 35 years of devote loyalty, I am now announcing my resignation as a Washington Redskins fan. You can have them. I???m sick and tired of each and every year having a different set of silly faces with headsets and overpaid, under-achieving athletes. But here???s the good news! I am only 30 miles away from Baltimore, so they are willing to take me in as a fan. !@@#$ you. They play real football only a few minutes down the Beltway. I never thought I would be following my boy Jim Zorn over to Baltimore to root for a REAL TEAM. You should check us out sometimes. Between the Washington Redskins and these Washington women, I have aged 15 years in 4 years. No more. Today is a new chapter. I???m going to start dating Hispanic women, and root for the Ravens. The tickets are cheaper in Baltimore. The parking is cheaper in Baltimore. They PLAY FOOTBALL IN BALTIMORE. Something you might now EVER know anything about. Good luck with your latest huge signing in Donovan McNabb, and the rest of your ALL-Star lineup. You???ve really got something going there. Oh, and if you think you can???t sell tickets now, wait till next season. Please take my name off that mailing list. No more fan mail. No more fan discounts. No more announcements. You can keep all that shish amongst yourselves. Thank you Baltimore for welcoming me to a Historic Franchise. I promise to be on my best behavior and I will not disappoint. It???s just going to take me a little while to adjust to winning, is all.

I could never understand why they never replaced the grass surface with field turf particularly after the Miami and Cincinnati games a couple of years ago and controversies over the surface. Grass doesn't grow in Pittsburgh in November. The University of Pittsburgh palys there home games there and the High Schools have their championship games there and they always re-sod the field after this. My thinking is this must be a union decision and the loss of groundskeeper job that would result with the installation of some kind of artificial turf.

Give it some time. You will be back, it is what fans do. It is a 12 step program ( that would be two six packs).

since you're in the market for a team, might i suggest the Pittsburgh Steelers, our home base is quite a ways away from the beltway...but look around we're in DC, MD, VA, (as well as here, there, and everywhere) we have an owner who believes in patience and planning, we struggle against the pats, but brady can't qb forever, besides we've manged ok in spite of that...

P.S. if you become a raven fan...i must break you....

The Pats went through that too. But it only took one game when the Jets totally rolled over them and the next morning Bob Kraft started working on getting a new surface put in.

Same field, same fans, same great paycheck to play a kids game while the rest of us bust our ass every single day. Shut up and kick.

As a 50 year fan of the Giants, you've seen some awful teams/management, haven't you?
And you're still there rooting for them.

That's what fans do.

Have to admit, Steelers fans are everywhere.
