Is Morris Miami's long-term answer?

08:28 AM ET 11.18 | Stephen Morris will start Saturday, and the question becomes how long that remains the case. Beyond the salvage job, Morris has caused a fundamental shift in offensive philosophy that bodes well for the future when, and if, Jacory Harris returns as starting quarterback. Coach Randy Shannon says when Harris is fully healed from the concussion he sustained at Virginia and doctors clear him to play, he will retain his position. Logic says if. If Morris shines in an upset of the No. 14 Hokies, he'll be 3-0 on a team that is finally fulfilling its potential. Why put the hot hand on ice?

I'll defer to svt to answer this headline question.

He's been kinda scarce on the boards lately. I'm like you, though, if there's a question about the Canes, I want to hear his take on it.
But in the meantime, my position is just like the last sentence says, why put the hot hand on ice? Go with what's working right now.

I know SVT just wishes he had ole' Robert Marve back. I mean, look at how he's killing it at Purdue.

Jacory Harris is not going to take Miami to the promised land! I first noticed his "deer-in-the-headlights" look in last year's bowl game versus Wisky. I saw it again in the Ohio State game. This is why he has so many picks and if Shannon doesn't see it he deserves to get fired, Look, Shannon is a decent coach and is trying very hard but it will take a "special" coach to make Miami a national power once again.

There is no way that you can sit this kid and justify it. He is making throws Jacory has never made and is WINNING. As a CANE fan of 30+ years I will be really upset if the kid isn't allowed to play as long as he wins.

Interesting comparison I heard on Rivals radio comparing Jacory Harris and his experience at Miami with Dan Marino and his experience at Pitt back in the day. Both were local high school legends in the city where they ended up playing college ball. Both had lead their respective high school teams to multiple state championships. Both were the most highly sought after recruits in the country. Both succumbed to the pressure of staying at "home" and leading the local college program to national title chances. And in the end both failed miserably under the pressure.
Do you all remember Dan Marino at Pitt? It was not pretty. But he came out got drafted by Miami Dolphins and the rest is history. Could Jacory Harris come out and get drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers and lead them to glory?
Stay tuned.
12-0 deal with it…

Fire Randy Shannon????? Yeah, because after it's taken Randy 4 years to clean the program up, turn the team around, reclaim SoFla recruiting, get our program headed in the right direction again and winning more games each year, the best thing for Miami would be to fire him as his first true recruiting class become seniors, and start ALLLLLL over from scratch with a new regime. I thought SVT knew the program inside and out? He must not, because if he did, he wouldn't advocate firing Randy Shannon right now. Randy has EARNED the chance to do great things next year, period. And the roster we have right now ALL came 110% to play FOR RANDY, that's just a fact. Firing him right now would put our program back another half-decade. If he doesn't win an ACC title next season it may be a different story, but you've got to either be short-sighted, hot-tempered, or know nothing about the program to think canning Randy after this season is anywhere near a wise move.

Hah. You must be new here. :D
SVT HATES Randy Shannon. Although I'm with you - as an alum myself, I like what Shannon has done in repairing the integrit of the program. Is he the long term answer to winning national titles? I think his game-day record says no. But for now I think he is a good fit. I think UM should wait him out and then when his contract is up hope that some other big program makes him an offer and let him leave.
Who else are you going to bring in? All of the big name coaches are dirty crooks who win the wrong way. Unless there is some young coordinator somewhere who is on their radar, I say let Shannon coach the team and continue to develop the new culture of class that he has brought to the Canes.

the answer to the question is yes, he is definitely the future from what i've seen so far.. i have definitely been impressed, and so far the offense has put up 500+ yards per game (literally) under his command.. the problem is i hope he doesnt regress like every other player under randy shannon has..
FIRE RANDY SHANNON!!!!!
