09:04 AM ET 11.18 | Power-play specialist Marc-Andre Bergeron may strike Lightning. Bergeron's agent said he has spoken to Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman, and characterized Tampa Bay's interest as "serious," though Paul Corbeil added that both sides are doing their homework to see if Bergeron, a free agent, would be a good fit. "I'm sure he could be a good asset for the Lightning," Corbeil said Wednesday. "They're a good team and having a very good beginning of the year. I think it would be a very nice fit with Guy Boucher and the coaching staff."

I'm thinking the Canadiens might need some help with Markov down again. Bergeron already knows the drill.
Canuck eh?

A free agent d-man who didn't make much money last year and can help run the powerplay...May be a few other teams interested once he gets healthy.

And a real defensive liability.
Sorry but I cannot forgive him for knocking Ladd into Rollie's leg and killing the Oilers against Carolina.

Bergeron gets the lion's share. He took Ladd out. Trying to be physical which he is not.
I'd take Smith back but I never want Bergeron near a team of mine again.
Agreed about the current situation though.
Which is why I following the Habs so much now. Just realized almost every game they play is on RDS.

ZERO chance that Bergeron finds himself in MTL this year, plus we did score 2 PP goals versus the flyers the other night.
Word to the wise, Bergeron's power play contributions are not significant enough to warrant a roster spot. The guy has an absolute cannon, I will give him that, but after nearly vomiting every single time he touched the puck for an entire season in MTL, I maintain that he just isn't worth it. I am not even exagerating by saying he is hands down the worst d-man in the league. The guy has trouble making a 5 foot pass, he can't catch a pass, he can't hit, he gets turned inside out.
THE WORST D IN THE LEAGUE. Not worth it because he's a major liability as the 6th D and he's so putrid that you can't even hide him on your fourth line.

if the Habs were to sign him I swear to god I would start to cry. I think I'd rather have the 30th ranked PP than Bergeron in my line-up.

Good thing it's TB sniffing around him then. I hate to see a grown man cry.

My RDS isn't HD but bad hockey in HD is not as good as good hockey in SD no matter what.

LOL - lucky for you folks it looks like there are at least 2 hot defense prospects that could be Oilers after the draft this year.On behalf of the flames i offer you Bowmeister and Rygier in return for Hall or Eberle.

Bergeron is an awful liability. He doesn't even bring the kind of upside that a liability like OH NO JOE CORVO does, who will at least get you 60 points for the ulcers his defence gives you.
For those of you new to me, know that I don't look stuff up, its not my thing. As a result, I end up asking stuff like:
Whats the word on Mathieu Schneider? I know he's been around since Krist was a Kowboy but he played well for the Habs 2 years ago when they traded for him, and was functional for the Canucks last year while injured. If he didn't retire, they should be lining him up for his third stint in the bleu, blanc et rouge. In my less than humble opinion, he still has a great, accurate clapper, is relatively physical, and while he may have lost a step, he is still relatively mobile. Not a bad mentor for PK, over the short term (this season). Especially if you don't have to give up anything for him and you know he'll come cheap if he doesn't even have a team at this point in the season...

Bergeron is awful, awful, awful. At least Oh NO! Joe Corvo will give you 60 pts for the ulcer his defence gives you, Bergeron can't even do that.
What's the deal with Mathieu Schneider? Did he actually retire or has he just not found a team yet? If he can be had without giving up anyone, the bleu, blanc et rouge should be lining him up for a 3rd stint, if you were to ask my less than humble opinion.
He was hurt last year in Vancouver, but otherwise he's got a massive, accurate clapper, and, even if his mobility has dropped off a bit, I'm sure he's still pretty effective. He was good 2 yrs ago when the Habs pulled him out of Siberia I mean, Atlanta, and I think he was effective while injured for the Canucks last year too.

RDS proudly brings you all 82 games, playoffs and prfe-season games of les glorieux! i love RDS, plus you get Pierre Houde calling the games, the guy's a legend, its just unfortunate that they still have benoit brunet doing colour commentary with him, the guy is flat out awful. I wish I could just get treated to Houde's quality voice and insight without his sidekick.

Do they have any blueliners? I haven't seen any. Unless, of course, you're talking about those pylons they dress in Oil silks for games.
P.S. I thinks their only legit blueliner is rotting in Hearshey.
