CB recruit rethinking offers

Cornerback Ahmed Shakoor of Stephenson (Ga.), who showed strong interest in Louisville and Marshall earlier this year, has taken a step back to consider all offers. "I'm still looking," Shakoor said. "More people are coming into the race. Teams like Miami, Auburn, Mississippi State, Middle Tennessee State, Virginia Tech and North Carolina are showing interest. And Georgia Tech and Georgia are pretty high on me." Shakoor, who didn't rule out a commitment to Louisville or Marshall, said Miami has captured his attention.

Makes sense that once the big boys come a-callin you have to listen. He wont be going to the U though. I think they have higher rated talent coming in ahead of this kid.

The good thing about L-ville and Marshall is you'll get that shot to start as a Freshman. Going to one of the bigboy schools will get you more exposure though.

Of course Miami has caught his attention, because he sees through this year's mediocre team (Coker's leftover mess) and knows damn well the amazing talent that Shannon is luring to The U right now. This team will be back in the BCS picture and back as NFL U within the next two years. Smart kid! ;)

Agree with For_The_U about the "Coker mess" that Shannon has to clear up. And so far, it appears that Randy Shannon is going to be a top-flght recruiter, able to recruit in the suburbs as well as connect with the Miami-area inner city athletes. But what remains to be see is what type of game day coach he is. It's a fair question....not enough time has passed to offer judgment one way or the other. The first step is talent, and the second step is coaching. Just ask Pete Caroll if talent alone can win you all of your games..

I hope so, I would love to see The U back in the picture, I used to love to watch them play, the attitude from their players was priceless....

True, the verdict is definitely still out as to his gameday coaching ability (particular on offense) though I'm relatively confident he will be a solid coach, as he was an AAAAAMAZING defensive coordinator. Caroll's problem is that the Trojans go untested the vast majority of the year, and aren't priming themselves by playing tough games all year long (like SEC teams do), which can cause a team to slip. Talent alone CAN win you titles, just look at Miami in 2001-2002, Coker stunk, but those teams were SO talented that they rolled through the seasons.

The talent will come back, and with it, The U will return to its accustomed dominance.

Sorry, bud, your comment:
"the attitude from their players was priceless...."

Dripped with a bit too much sarcasm to deem your statement serious.
