08:40 AM ET 11.19 | A slump, especially the one in which Marc-Andre Fleury found himself to start the season, isn't the kind of thing that evaporates overnight. Fleury might not be completely out of the rut that he fell into early in the season but, as the Penguins prepare to face Carolina at 7:08 [Friday] at Consol Energy Center, he certainly seems to be headed that way. He has put together four consecutive quality performances over the past week, highlighted by a 29-save effort in the 3-1 victory against Vancouver Wednesday.

Hey Pens fans check out the picture in Extra Mustard today. Let's put it this way it's a penalty Mike Richards will probably never take. lol

Fleury will always make saves that make you go Wow!!

He will also frustrate you with mental lapses and weak goals allowed.

It's proven you can win with him, but it won't be pretty.

Huh?

Are you being a $h*t stirrer? ;)

As far as Fleury is concerned, I hope he puts his big goalie stick up the the **** of everyone who wanted to trade him or send to Wilkes-Barre. I just hope he continues to get some wins under his belt, and it continues to build his confidence.

"Clouds parting over Pens' Fleury"

The big question is, can he part the waters and lead his team to the Stanley Cup?

Holding the Stanley Cup??

And in today's headlines, Pittsburgh's Dept. of Public Health has put out a bulletin noting that Valium / Clonopin consumption in the greater Pittsburgh metropolitan area has been halved in the past week.

I am sick of the Pens news - who saw the 4-0 Bruins shutout? Lucic gets the hat-trick ...

who saw the Tampa/Philly game? 8-7? what, is it 1986 with that scoring?

Agreed 100%!! Fleury always gets the blame when the team does bad and none of the credit when the team does well in the eyes of some fans.

He's done it once before, no reason to think he can't do it again.

Regular season stats for a goalie don't mean ****...Osgood is proof of that. A wholly average goalie in the regular season, he seriously stepped it up when it mattered the most.

Fleury has proven he can do the same and I'll take that over gaudy regular season numbers any day of the week.

Tee hee

The team is playing much better in front of him too.
Although, I think it would be fair to expect around 5-7 shut outs per season from him. But it's either a softy of a bad play in front of him that always ruins things.

yes, but your record still has to be good enough to make the playoffs ...
(which should not be a problem)

however - how long will the fans/coaches/management tolerate 'mediocrity'

Fleury back-stopped your stanley cup campaign but i wouldn't necessarily say he "led" the team to the stanley cup.

He played much better the year before when they lost in the finals...

All we remember is the save at the end og the game that won the cup. That was Fleury at his atheletic best.

And better last year than this. Hopefully it's not a trend.

I'm surprised I'm not called for that penalty more often.
