10:05 AM ET 11.20 | NASCAR official confirmed the sanctioning body has a meeting scheduled with Volkswagen in January. While Volkswagen competition representative Hans-Joachim Stuck emphatically denied any interest in American stock cars at Homestead one year ago, in a recent interview with Financial Times Deutschland the former racer discussed possibly taking the brand to Formula One and NASCAR.

The Beetle or Jetta would be able to maneover easier between the COT's....speaking of COT, there isn't enough room on the VW for all the safety features....besides aren't all the engines in the back?...at least from the pic, we can see the car is already sloped one way.
This could be quite funny LMAO

Chase final race....winner undetermined....and we get a story about VW with a pic of a 1970's Beetle.....where can I get the glue they must be sniffing ? (not for me, for my boss hahahaha)

Oh hell -- Rexy will like this ... she has a thing for foreign companies. If I remember right, we kicked their butts in WWII too ... but now here we go and let them into an American race ...

NASCAR willing to do anything to keep the $$ rolling in.

Never entertained the thought of owning a VW but I will say the Passat and CC are very popular with the younger folks here.

A VW in NASCAR? Never thought I'd see that day.
And this has really been bothering me. The chase is so close this year that Brian France and his team of lackeys will be more encouraged than ever to keep it going. They will say all off-season how exciting the whole thing was. Ten more years at least, after this. I almost wish JJ had run away with it again. Lord, I hate the chase.

Um if VW joins NASCAR that doesn't bode well for the fans in the stands. "Punch buggy, no punch backs!" It'll turn into a European soccer, err football, match with rioting in the stands!

Ohhhhhhh Lordy say it isn't so Posters, I need glasses after reading this. What is France thinking of, Volkswagen???? His Father and Grandfather are rolling over in their graves.

At this point Pond I think because Golden Jimmie hasn't walked away with it already NASCAR and the media just want the season to end so they can hype him up to win next year's title.

Are not all the "cars" in Nascar "actually built" in race shops or chassis shops in mostly North Carolina?Just what component comes from an "auto company" the bare block..Pistons...Who knows. You (Rex Racer) seem pretty knowledgeable, so do you know just what it is? The Bow Tie decal for instance? It's not the chassis, the sheet metal, Plexiglas windows, etc. I'd guess that the engine builders get something directly from the manufacturers. Anything more??

rexy seems to think they are racing production cars out there.. and if anything is from the manufactuer its the block, which i highly doubt..
