I am sure he'll survive. He's only made about a billion dollars in his career. I'd be happy to earn the interest he gets on his investments.

A moral viewpoint? What? You're naive if you believe companies care about morality over turning a profit--which is what their stakeholders demand they do. The companies that cut bait did so because they feared negative backlash from a continued association with him, not because of a "moral viewpoint."

As for going back to the game "we" all love and watch everyone play, try running the past the PGA, which saw televised ratings for its tournaments plummet when Tiger wasn't playing. And who's "we?"

If your "moral viewpoint" won't allow you to watch, care about or like Tiger, fine. But the idea that Tiger is going to be or even should be an afterthought to the game of golf is ridiculous. He is the most electrifying player of this generation--period.

That's cold. If every guy that had an affair got fired from his job the unemployment rate would go up by a 1000 percent. Yes the guy screwed up (no pun intended), but he's only human. Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone. That's what I thought.

The story headline says, "Scandal cost Tiger $35-plus". That's say he only lost $35, it should read "Scandal cost Tiger over $35 million in annual revenue".

Did these writers go to secondary school?

How is that cold? He didn't get fired from his job, that would be playing golf for a living. What he did do, was ruin the image that had garnered him $35+ million annually in endorsement revenue. Which is exactly why endorsing condom companies would make sense. If no one wants to endorse a damaged image, then market it to the companies that operate in and around the moral grey zone and don't care about how pristine the public perception of an athlete is.

I certainly did not imply that Tiger should not be allowed to play golf because of his infidelities.

The American people are very forgiving to the point of being naive, otherwise how we keep reelecting amoral and corrupt people such as N. Gingrich and C. Rengal. All Tiger needs to do is to win a few big ones all will be forgotten.

I find it amusing that a kobe bryant fan comments about tiger and lost endorsements, how quickly we forget.

If it wasn't for that incessant media that will always keep a column reserved for tiger. Why aren't companies endorsing people that are better role models and currently winning tournaments? Is it because sponsors own tiger also pay huge amounts for advertising space in SI?

I think Kobe, Ray Lewis, Vick and many others have proven the sponsors will come back if have a good personality and stay clean.

Tiger will not miss $35 million. I'm sure he thinks it was worth it.

From what I understand, he turned down a $25 million endorsement deal with Perkins.

The sticking point was that Tiger's people wanted the chain to be renamed "Porkins"....

really, why don't you ask Micheal Vick how most people view him now as he's lighting it up? How about his airness who had numerous affairs as well? check out Kobe's status too, how about Charlie Sheen who's whole life is pretty much a trainwreck. If/When tiger starts winning againg the $$$$$ will start flowing from sponsors, it's about being a winner and companies want to be associated with it.

Companies do care about money, and if they perceive that the general public is turned off by someone they will shy away from that person like they have leprosy. It's that simple.

Don't expect that companies are going to start falling all over themselves to be a part of Woods anymore. And, it is a moral compass that they are reading whether you or I like it or not.

Married man Charles Barkley very gleefully told the police he was enroute to having oral sex performed on him by a pickup girl...Before he spent three days in "jail" (private suite, and all). The marriages of Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, and Dr. J, among others went down the tubes because they couldn't keep their pants up. It's not all about sex either. Let's not forget about Donte Stallworth who KILLED a man, and Ray Lewis who, by all counts was involved in the murder of one. Both are in good standing in the NFL. (I've always thought it sucked that Vick got more time for killing dogs than Stallworth did for killing a human).

Moral of the story: If you have money, (and are not a stupid repeat offender like O.J) Just give your transgression time to pass and you can play you way back to fame...Just wait it out...Some else's **** will "rise to the occasion" and become the latest news. Just ask Tony Parker's dog ass.
