08:55 AM ET 11.21 | The Diamondbacks are making every player, including Justin Upton, available in trades. The Red Sox and Yankees are interested but Boston has a lot more to give up for the supremely talented right fielder.

In other news this morning, the sun rose today and the Pope is Catholic.

Let's rename the Diamondbacks the "Swap Meet".

November 21, 2010  10:21 AM ET

Or how about "The Red Sox AAAA Affiliate"? That sounds even more accurate.

What about Swish? Is BJ going to switch position?

What is happening here is that the Yankees are about ready to "fly another jet" when they sign Lee, so the Red Sox have to launch a rocket just to let everyone know that they're still around.

Gotta love arms races. Yankees get a new guy, Red sox gotta get a new guy. Maybe they'll give up another Hanley Ramirez caliber player.

If telling people that they're interested in Justin Upton is the response to the Yankees possibly signing Lee, this "arms race" is over. It would be like sending out an old man in a row boat to respond to an aircraft carrier in your waters.

The Tribune does not need to be referenced so often. The lead baseball article today was a piece of crap from Phil Rogers.

Phil probably gets a bonus if Ricketts can get the government to finance the Ricketts stadium enhancement plans which also profit the Tribune who still own a share of the Cubs.

November 21, 2010  02:01 PM ET

Why did Fannation pick this up from the Chicago Tribune? Arizona Republic indicate 15-20 teams. USA Today reports, New York didnt offer enough and NY Post incates more interest is coming from Marlins and Rays.

Phil Rogers, where are your sources coming from or is it 'sources say'?

Let's see now... Hanley Ramirez - his talent AND his attitude - are offered for Beckett (a former Yankee killer) and this throw-in guy by the name of Lowell. Sox win World Series; Lowell is MVP. Ramirez gets in fights with his fellow players.

Yep... Wouldn't it be nice if a team could unload that "caliber of player" every day in exchange for a ring.

beat me to the punch on your response hoos. bravo and nuf ced!

Yankee killer? Josh Beckett has a career 6.23 era in 21 starts against the Yankees. To put that in perspective it is the worst era against the Yankees for any pitcher with 19 or more starts since 1955. The Yankee clubhouse boy grabs a bat when he sees Beckett is starting that night.

If I'm the Red Sox I make that trade everyday and twice on Sunday... you do know the two guys the Sox got for Ramirez were extremely intrumental in them winning a World Series right? Ok just checking.

Yep, Yankee killer. Rather than engage in baseless trash talking, I'll let his stats do the talking.

'The guts of a burglar'
Beckett baffles Yankees, earns World Series MVP award

Josh Beckett tossed the first complete-game shutout in a World Series clincher since Jack Morris' 10-inning masterpiece in 1991.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Josh Beckett ran off the mound, picked up the ball and applied the final tag, the one that finished off the big, bad Yankees.

He pitched with the determined demeanor of a Bob Gibson or a Sandy Koufax and came up with the game of his life on baseball's grandest stage.

On a night that he'll always remember and New York will never forget, the 23-year-old right-hander led the Florida Marlins to their second World Series title Saturday night, beating the Yankees 2-0 in Game 6.

"Sometimes," he said, "less is more."

Two days, three days, four days, it didn't matter to him.

He didn't care how much rest he had, and that's why the Yankees now have the offseason to rest and the Marlins head home for a big party.

Beckett pitched a five-hitter that won him the World Series MVP award. He beat Andy Pettitte and looked like -- well, even better than -- those multimillion-dollar Yankees starters who grace magazine covers and get all the attention.

So he beat the Yankees in the playoffs, once. That must make him a Yankee killer. Right.

I think I just picked my nose while reading these responses. It is just that interesting...
