11:38 AM ET 11.21 | Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson defeated fellow former light heavyweight champion Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida via split-decision last night in the main event of UFC 123. After the bout, Jackson admitted to being sick and said he had a hard time belting out his trademark howl on the way to the cage. "Man, I was horse as hell," Jackson recalled at the evening's post-fight press conference. "I couldn't even get my howl out the way I wanted to. It was rough." Jackson admitted that the illness was serious enough that he had contemplated pulling out of the fight just days before the event.

Well.....last night I was calling every **** sports bar i could think of to watch the boxing fight between Martinez/Williams.....NO ONE was showing it...They would tell me, "oh, we're showing UFC tonight on all of our screens".......Last week, it was the other way around.....every single sports bar in town was showing the Pacquiao/Margarito fight..........The fight last night was a good one! It ended in a 2nd round KO! Williams got knocked the **** out! & for those of us who watch BOXING, it was a far better competitive fight than the massacre that happened last weekend......

I try to watch these MMA/UFC fights......but I just can't get into them......I guess I'm old fashioned........

I don't need to Bro.....I still think BOXING is BETTER than UFC/MMA....I think it takes more SKILLS to BOX, & i still don't consider MMA/UFC a "sport". When we start seeing MMA/UFC in Olympic Sports, then I might change my mind....

Yeah, watching two guys with shaved bodies, on the ground, chest to chest, one with his legs up on the back of the other, is _REAL_ macho...

da dragon got robbed...

He didn't get robbed, he only fought one round. And I think the only reason he did that in the third was because he knew he lost the first and second. The guy thinks he's still the champ and there are five rounds.

Seems to me that Rampage has an excuse everytime he fights a weak fight these days, which has pretty much been every fight he's had since his bout with Dan Henderson (not counting that grudge match against Silva). Against Forrest, he had taken too much time off and put on too much weight while recording that season of TUF. Against Rashad, he took too much time off to film the A Team and had ring rust. Against Machida he had a cold. He's starting to sound like Tito (though actually winning fights along the way) - talking like he hero going into a fight (Best shape of my life, gonna knock him out, etc.) and making excuses coming out of it.

To be fair though, Machida IS a tough dude to catch

HAHA these comments are funny today. I enjoy MMA more then boxing just because I feel there are more aspects of the fight to enjoy. Boxing has fadded out a lot recently and the BS that comes from watching fighters turn down opponants in my mind is why no one really cares for it anymore.
Until I see the best fighters fight each other this sport will never come back. Even listening to the Manny vs Floyd talks is embarrassing. I dont know boxing but feel floyd is a **** and only fights fighters he wants (you fight the best PERIOD, and should be EXCITED to cement your legacy doing it) rather they run around and use promoters as reasons not to fight.
Until someone is in charge to tell these prima dona fighters who they are fighting and when it is all comercial in my mind.

Boxing would be better, if 1 loss didn't doom your career. Then you wouldn't see guys ducking each other and taking weak fights just to pad their records.

in boxing you have to know how to punch and avoid being punched. in mma you have to be able to punch, kick, elbow, and knee, as well as avoid all of those from the guys across from you. also you need to know how to grapple both standing, and on the ground, while avoiding/applying submissions. boxing gloves are bigger with much more padding, and you can only be hit with the gloves. mma much smaller gloves make it harder to not be knocked out, and you can be hit with several parts of the body. everyone has their opinion im just stating mine in that i feel mma is much more skilled than boxing. plus your logic in that because mma isnt in the olympics that doesnt make it a sport. all parts of mma are in deifferent parts of olpmic sports, wrestling, boxing, and all martial arts. but the its not an olmpic sport thing makes no sense unless you view football as not a sport.

November 23, 2010  11:05 AM ET

All you MMA haters are only calling it like you see it... we dont look at it that way... but if you do.. thats your life choice....

I dont like seeing 2 guys throw 3 punches then hug eachother until another man comes in and pushes them apart... that sounds pretty damn gay too... but hey.. if its what you like to watch then so be it.

It's like compairing American Football to Rugby.... yes similar in ways... but completely different rules and styles... and its simple.. if you dont like it... dont watch it and shut up.

MadMex, not many people are watching boxing anymore. Boxing has become an old head sport. Once Manny retires you won't see much bars showing boxing events compare to MMA because MMA has the fighters to keep the sport interesting. I actually watched the Manny fight and I you know I hate boxing but Manny is the last real boxer left in the sport that is willing to bang with whoever is the best. MMA is already out doing boxing in PPV sales by a long shot and will even separate farther next year. Last weekend ufc card was not bad at all, great Knocks outs and submissions.

That is so true lol, but he seems to manage the W... Machida could have won that fight if he was more aggressive in the first two rounds.

So does that mean football is not a sport??

Boxing is one dimensional; there's but one way to lose--with fists only. If boxers are "more skilled" then they should move the octagon and show us their prowess.
