08:28 AM ET 11.23 | With Brad Richards heading to Toronto -- to play for the Stars -- the questions will be raised about whether he finishes the season in Dallas. Richards and the Stars confirmed what they have known for a while: There's no telling where Richards might be playing next season. The Stars' leading scorer (25 points in 19 games) and most expensive player ($7.8 million a season) can become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, and the Stars can't really begin talks on an extension because they are owned by a group of lenders who are trying to sell the team.

Would be nice if the Flames could pick him up...give Jarome the center he's never had.

This way Sutter won't have to call him out like this after every game

Richards feeding Iggy would be sick....

Does he have gold teeth?

I don't know how the Flames could fit him under their Cap, even at whatever discounted rate he ends up playing for next year.

He's a heck of a player that will get traded and signed before free agency or he'll be the most sought after player come July 1. My bet is we see a trade, but it ends up being a surprise.

Toronto doesn't have enough to offer a team that can't take contracts back.
How will the Rangers make the room for him under the Cap?
The Kings have room, but seem to want a winger more than a centre. Would be a great addition though.

The thing with Richards is that he won't go for the bucks over having a quality team. I'd say he'll take less to sign with an up and coming team like Colorado or the Kings rather than sign up to be on a terrible squad like Atlanta or Toronto.

They'd have to move Roszival...so it won't happen. No one wants that $5 million contract.

"There's no telling where Richards might be playing next season."

Likely where he gets the most dough. Isn't that the purpose of FA?

If you listen carefully you can hear everyone in To***to pissing themselves with delight.

Judging from the pic, I think he's already smelling the delightful pissings in To***to. ;)

A 30 year old player who counts almost 8 million against a team's cap? There won't be amany teams that can afford that. Now, if Richards is willing to take a bit of a pay cut that might make a difference, but no way in hell he's worth that kind of money again.

7th in scoring last year...6th in scoring this year...Not too shabby versus whatever else is out there!

Nah, it's actually his Under Armour mouth guard!

Not shabby at all, but for 8 million a year in the cap era? Richards is too much of an assist guy for my tastes.

He's a -73 for his career including -12 last year.
He has never scored more than 26 goals in a season for his career.

How long before his numbers start dropping and he becomes a cap burden a team cannot afford?? Noi sir, without a pay cut, I wopuldn't want Richards.

Cue Hank......

He's expected to take a pay cut when his contract is up at the end of the season. Whoever picks him up will basically be renting him with the first option to buy.

Two words: Binghamton Rangers. The organization probably has the money to ship some high priced contracts to the AHL and still fit him in.

But.......wouldn't that be circumventing the cap?? ;)

a 30yo who is not a guarenteed point and half per game player - for 8 million.

I could at least see that - but this contract was from Tampa Bay, right after they won the Cup... dumb move, which is why they had to move him
