08:10 AM ET 11.24 | Perhaps as a response to a deep free agent pool of first basemen, Lance Berkman can painted himself with a little more range. Berkman, a free agent for the first time in his career, does not consider himself only a first baseman. "The way I look at it, I could still play first base and the outfield," Berkman said Tuesday. "A lot of people have asked me, 'Do you still want to play the field?' My answer is that not only can I play the field, I still can run around the outfield. I'm not a DH-slash-first baseman. I'm a first baseman-slash-outfielder."

After he came offthe DL he wasn't bad for the Yanks. The Thames/Berkman platoon at DH was pretty solid. He can't hit lefties anymore though.

I can't imagine a team signing him to play any amount of extended time in the outfield.

Keep dreaming bud, who are you trying to convince, you'd be lucky to even get signed as a first basemen lol.

But on a team full of strike-out artists, he was really a terrible fit. He did provide some great Tiger memories though.

Yeah, you could wheel him out to leftfield. As long as you have an elite CF, who can cover most of LF too.

Supposedly he is a spot reliever too.

You just have to be in a really tough spot.

You're right, Lance, you're not just a first baseman. You're a washed up first baseman.
