09:49 AM ET 11.24 | With T.J. Oshie out for much of the regular season and David Perron uncertain, the Blues may be looking for help up front. So Blues general manager Doug Armstrong should keep a close eye on the Bruins during the weeks ahead. With Marco Sturm (knee) and Marc Savard (concussion) on the comeback trail from long-term injuries, Boston will have to move a forward or two to comply with the NHL salary cap. ... Wingers Michael Ryder and Blake Wheeler are two other trade targets for the Bruins, along with Savard. Armstrong dealt with Boston before, acquiring Vladimir Sobotka from the Bruins supply of surplus forwards.

Bruins are going to have to free up cap space one way or another

November 24, 2010  10:13 AM ET

Blues have really cooled off since Oshie had a brain cramp and got himself hurt.

November 24, 2010  10:17 AM ET

The Bruins are in a good position. They have too much of what others want. A good place to be.

I guess that's why they call them the Blues. (with apologies to Elton John)

One would think their GM is looking for the best possible deal out there which may or may not be the Bruins.

And you were doing so well up until now. ;)

isn't that usually when the rug gets pulled out from under your feet?

Pens should be after Ryder. They want wingers, and Bruins need cap space.

Good time to trade Thomas, as he's at the top of his game.

November 24, 2010  12:00 PM ET

I'd like to see the Blues go after Ryder, if the price isn't way too steep.

Wheeler = Brad Boyes

I would love to see Thomas moved, but his cap hit is too big for what goalies are running these days. Which is why they couldn't find a taker over the summer.

Worse that can happen they'll have to wave a couple of bodies if they can't find a dance partner.

Problem is the Pens don't have the cap space for a high priced player...not unless they get rid of some coin in the deal.

Meh, he's a 6 mil this year but then drops to 5 mil next and 3 mil the year after that. He'd be a good pick up for a team with a little wiggle room now.

The situation gets real sour if they move someone to make room for Savard and Savard only last 10 games or so.

What choice do they have?

Thomas is not going anywhere and no real live Bruins fan wants him to.

I don't really want to see Boston working a trade with St. Louis when they can always call Brian Burke and assrape him for the rest of his draft picks this century while unloading some more dead weight (Ryder) on him.
