08:20 AM ET 11.25 | It didn't take Boise State president Bob Kustra long to fire back at Ohio State president E. Gordon Gee after the latter said the former, along with TCU, didn't deserve consideration for a BCS title game berth. "I just hope that when he speaks about his research profile or the quality of his university he's a little more believable than he is about athletics, because he's just so wrong on this one. ... If anything, ridiculous and inaccurate presentations like this from a major university president will go further to make our case. ... Presidents who stand up and talk about values and truth and fairness and access and equity speak with forked tongue when it comes to athletics."

I think the word you're looking for is "long". It didn't take him LONG to fire back.

doesn't the OSU president have better things to worry about than the schedule of Boise State football....whether you are a fan of OSU or not, this exemplified very little class on the part of Gee

Read the whole article last night. It was pretty good. What shocked me was this little tidbit the BSU president quoted
"He also said that the SEC's Florida Gators have not left the state to play a non-conference, regular-season opponent since 1991."
Obviously, BSU has been researching a lot in anticipation of such an attack.

yeah...I was really surprised when I read that one last nite.....
but you gotta remember--they play that really tough conference schedule so they are supposed to get cut some slack ;)

It's freakin' kill TTUN week and (bow-tie)Gee wants to talk something he absolutely knows nothing about. He should keep his mouth shut and do his job as president of tOSU.

I've been a huge BSU fan since the 70's. I'm an alum and have two children currently attending Boise State, so my comments are obviously going to be bias, unlike (of course) Mr. G. Gordon Gee's comments.
My sincere wish is to have BSU in the BCS Championship game, but please God, if that doesn't happen, please, please, please let Wisc/MSU lose this weekend and have a Boise State/Ohio State Rose Bowl. I know it would be beneath Mr. G. Gordon Gee's Ohio State team to play the lowly sisters of the poor, but it would make for such great drama leading up to kickoff.

FJJ, good point! It's about time that schools like Ohio State man up (and schedule Boise) or shut up!!!

I see both sides. I think Georgia and Boise play next year. Boise wants a crazy amount of money to come play and want a home and home. Big schools simply want to schedule a home game instead of a road game in a small stadium. It isn't because big schools are scared, hardly the case. It is about money.

You know what is a funny stat? Florida has 3 National Championships during that time period and Notre Dame has none.

He does make a good point. But strength of schedule has to play a part. Pitt may go to a BCS game with 4 losses. That's crazy. They would be a .500 team in the SEC or Big 10 or Big 12.

DC, that is amazing! You have teams that will travel all over the country for a OOC game, like Boise State, Oregon, Penn State, UCLA, USC and a bunch more. Hell, even LSU came out west for a couple of games!!

King, come on dude, we are not talking about National Championships!!! We are talking about leaving the State for a OOC game.

Why didn't your president, point out that tOSU is playing scUM this week? Not exactly playing the sisters of the poor, but then again, they could beat TTUN, right now!!

King, Why hasn't Florida left the state and played a OOC game in "big stadium" since 1991?

I agree 100%. It is about money and some of the bigs want to keep it instead of giving up a little to go on the road to a place like BSU and TCU. So they see these schools as wanting a "crazy amount of money" and they want to keep the "crazy amount of money" and never take their show on the road. Their is a little fear though. They do not want to risk losing an OOC game because they don't think they could get back in the NC picture. Again, that would cost them money.

I know, I still have to mess a little. Florida does have a bad rep with that. Please keep in mind that they do play FSU every year.
Many SEC teams travel "out west" including LSU, Arkansas, Georgia, Vols, etc. Florida chooses not to.

Good point OT. Even their in state rivals the U and FSU are willing to go on the road. One went to tOSU and the other to Zero U to play this year. You still can't convince me that the loyal season ticket holders really enjoy watching the slaughters they bring in. They just tolerate it.

Well Texas doesn't exactly play powerhouses. I think their OOC is weaker than Florida's.
