08:21 AM ET 11.26 | Two men enter, one man leaves? Somebody needs to take a picture of the postgame handshake between Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt and West Virginia's Bill Stewart today. It should be the last of its kind. Chances are the losing coach will be fired after the season. That seems especially true with Stewart, who never should have been named the West Virginia coach, at least not the way his hiring went down. But it's also true with Wannstedt, whose time at Pitt, so far, has been a disappointment despite a 10-win season last season and a nine-win season the year before.

Getting 9-10 wins in the Big East is like being a Div I-AA school. When Pitt comes up against a big time program it shows how far they have yet to go to be competitive. Wannstedt is not a good HC. As for Stwart, I don't know who WVa could have hired that would be better... maybe we'll see.

Then there is a God. Both are terrible.

With an automatice BCS berth on the line, lovely! nothing like a 4-5 loss team from Big Least getting in the BCS, while one-loss teams like Stanford and Wisconson are on teh outside looking in. I love the BCS!!!!

Actually with a paloff there would be 4 and 5 loss teams representing the Sun Belt Conference, MAC, ect. getting in and one loss teams from the BCS conferences being left out. I'm for a play off but that would happen.

I like a plus 1 set-up. Let the top 4 teams meet in the bowls and then have a naitonal championship game between the two winners the following week. I know the 5th rated team will squeel, but that's life. Bowls would be better, and we would have a "clearer" national championship

Nah, piss on it. Let's just keep the fat cats happy and stay with what we got. Even make it a little worse to keep out any low life that might try to creep in. We'd hate to create anything that might resemble fair.

Just give it to Bama every year! They're going to claim it, anyway.

WV can have Rich Rod back, that guy is worthless.

Gotta love those shoes WVA is playing in, though! Bolt wouln'd wear those!

what credibility does he have in the first place? This clown has no information of any kind, rather just speculation.

So let's say PITT loses, doubtful they replace Wannstedt, who is PITT gonna go out and get with a bigger name? It's maybe a little bit more realistic with Stewart, given the circumstances around his hiring....but then again, my commentary has about as much validity as this journalist's...NONE.

Mere speculation.

you're preaching to the choir. amen.

If the goal of these two programs is to eventually win a National Title, then they should fire both of these guys, regardless of the outcome of this game. Neither of them will ever get a whiff of a National Chamionship as a college head coach.

They both seem like good men, but as HC's, they are both very average.

Nobody who favors a playoff said anything about letting the Sunbelt, MAC or C-USA have an automatic bowl bid. Even in the BCS the non-AQ teams have never come from those loser/glorified D-III schools.

So Pitt lost and they still have the best chances of winning the Big Worst and going to a BCS bowl with a 7-5 record. So everyone calm down, The Wannstache is safe, for now.

November 27, 2010  08:38 AM ET

Good bye Wanny it was nice knowing you

Anyone who didn't know Wannstedt couldn't coach way way way before he got to Pitt just couldn't have been watching... he must be the world's best interview, because anyone with eyes can see the man can't coach a lick, at any level, even the Big Least.
