09:11 AM ET 11.29 | Jim Harbaugh is the choice of many Michigan fans and writers alike. One topic Harbaugh will be questioned about is his May 2007 comment about UM's academics and sports -- the one topic guaranteed to raise the Wolverine Nation ire quotient to 11: "Michigan is a good school and I got a good education there, but the athletic department has ways to get borderline guys in, and when they're in, they steer them to courses in sports communications. They're adulated when they're playing, but when they get out, the people who adulated them won't hire them," Harbaugh told San Francisco Examiner columnist (and longtime Bay Area sports writing fixture) Glenn Dickey.

If Michigan is reacting negatively to that comment then Harbaugh is probably picking at a sore that does truly exists. IMO there are very few schools that do not do what he is talking about.

The truth hurts...

November 29, 2010  09:33 AM ET

Why in the moveis they always show a big dum MICHIGAN football player.

Agree. I don't think this is a big secret. Happens a lot at different schools. Michigan being average at best lately they like to inaccurately point to their high academics. Haha, nobody believes that anyway.

Do they actually do that? That would take some Gall...

Not to mention the he is suggesting you can do better for the kids if you truly want to. If you look at the intent of what he is saying its not a bad thing. If you're thin skinned it might bother you though.

Harbaugh will be coaching at Michigan in 2011 or 2012...

... I'm leaning towards the former.

I bet he just leaves coaching and opens an orphanage.

As previously mentioned on this thread, he could be talking about any number of "schools"...

November 29, 2010  09:49 AM ET

Since when is stating the obvious news? It is the same for non athletes too, There is a major for everyone that anyone can pass at every school.

How can the University of Michigan be mad at Harbaugh for telling the truth?

Yeah those majors are great for going into the military and immediately attaining an "officer" rank.

Let me have a word with any Meatchicken fans brave enough to come on this thread and show themselves in public:
Memo to tSUN fans: Hire Harbaugh and hire him now. This hillbilly that you have running your once proud program into the ground and ruining the greatest rivalry in college football is a sham of a fraud of a forgery.
Get the "real deal" and get back into the conversation.

I was at the game Saturday in beautiful C-bus. Are you read to hear this??? I bought four (4) tickets for less than face value off the street!!!

I was with my best friend his son and nephew (they are 21 and 23 yrs old) and I felt like my father talking about "the game" like it was some event in ancient history. I was left trying to describe the atmosphere, the intensity, the brutality because none of it was apparent on the field.

You suck! Fix it and fit it now! The Big 10 will not return to the top of the national conversation as the best conf unless and until Meatchicken returns!

Get off your collective arsses shell out some serious sh/t for $ and get Harbaugh.

It poses some PR problems for UM. It's a lot harder to refute the truth than a lie.

Rich Rod looked great in a conference with no elite defenses. Can't get away with that crap in the Big 10. Having 2 starting QB's, 8 WR's, and 11 scrubs on defense is not a winning recipe. This clown needs to go to the Big Least, MWC, WAC, or MAC where you don't need defense to get an automatic bid every year.

OK, I didn't want to steal Woody's Boy's thunder, but this gossip can't wait (this is T and R, after all). Sorry, WB, this is just too juicy. The rumor flying around Ohio Stadium Saturday by Michigan fans with whom WB spoke said that a group of TSUN alumni and boosters, headed by none other than Dan Dierdorf, are coming up with cash to buy out Harbaugh's contract at Stanford and bring him to Ann Arbor. If true, the only flies in the ointment are 1) Harbaugh ditching Stanford; and 2) A Michigan buyout of RichRod's contract (I believe it to be in the neighborhood of $14 million). It's gonna take a lot shaking and baking to pull THAT off.

Good stuff Harley. I chatted up couple of UM guys at two tailgates and tried to get their take on Fraudriguez. One was a father of #52 Leach (back-up lb) and the other was a booster. The father was "non-committal" but the booster was incredulous. He wants DickRod out now not later.

Exactly...

... I'll state again, Alabama fans must feel they have the luck of the irish.

Rod was on his way to Tuscaloosa.
