09:19 AM ET 11.29 | While it may feel a little like "What have you done for me lately," the trade that brought Dustin Byfuglien to Atlanta may be the franchise's best ever. Byfuglien leads the Thrashers in scoring with 25 points through 24 games. He is also tied for the team lead with nine goals. He had 34 regular-season points all of last season with Chicago. After his goal against the Bruins, he leads the NHL with five game-winners. Two have come in overtime. He leads all NHL defensemen in points and goals. He leads all NHL defensemen with power-play goals (4) and is tied, with teammate Tobias Enstrom, atop the league in power-play points (13) by a defenseman.

Dustin Byfuglienchuk?

Looks like it...The Thrashers are playing well and having fun.

Chicago has missed him (and others) a lot more than I think they thought they would.

Or maybe it has something to do with all the new guys, some just coming off a cup and a goaltender who just doesn't let pucks in this year.

Gotta admit I'm surprised. Really thought the 'Hawks were getting rid of a flash who's value was at a high. Its looking like the Thrashers have themselves a real game changer here instead. I'm only starting to turn around on him now because he IS a streaky player, but a 23 game run is more than just a streak. I hope he keeps it up.

Anyone know what his +/- is at? With all those point he'd better be in the +.

He's a +4.

This may very well turn out to be "Atlanta's best deal ever", but it's a little too early to tell. Jeremy Morin is only 19 and who knows what the 1st and second round picks will do. Obviously it's working out thus far, but a very good half season does not a great career make.

I guess all that early season kafuffle about whether or not he should go on defense was all for not?

November 29, 2010  11:43 AM ET

does it matter? Unfortunately, despite having a very respectable club, the arena remains empty. Hopefull,y if they continue to play well and make the playoffs it will build the fan base....however, traditionally we have learned that the spike in interest lasts as long as the team plays well. Let's ship this bus to Quebec city!

If a Byfuglien falls in Georgia, does it make a sound?

Funny how things turn around when you get a few players with a good work ethic and you don't have to put up with a diva. The Thrashers are 28th in attendance, averaging almost 12,000 fans a night which amounts to about 64% of their arena. The Devils are 23rd and they draw 14,707 or 83%. The Coyotes and Islanders are 30th and 29th in attendance.
