09:29 AM ET 10.24 | On Tuesday night, Amare Stoudemire was supposed to go through his first full practice with contact since undergoing arthroscopic right knee surgery Oct. 2. But it was hard to catch the Suns center to give him contact. Stoudemire said he felt "healthy" and "strong" after he played well during an hourlong practice and a brief scrimmage in front of about 6,500 fans at US Airways Center.

I hope Amare can stay healthy. He is one of the best finishers in the game and when he's healthy he is a hand full. Amare is a very good person too. He has overcome a ton of obstacles. All the best to you STAT.

October 24, 2007  12:03 PM ET

He's soft and he's a baby!!! He cant even stop Tim Duncan who is by the way on the decline and Amare hasnt even reached his prime!!!!! Man up boy!!!!

October 24, 2007  12:09 PM ET

Man up? The "boy" was 1st Team All-NBA last season. Not to mention he just came off microfracture surgery. If you think he hasn't reached his prime yet, then thats a scary thought.

October 24, 2007  12:36 PM ET

MacaDamien, a couple points One, news flash, Tim Duncan is not on a decline. If you want to see a player on the decline, look at your beloved Shaq. Shaq came into the league in 1992. Duncan, 1997. TD just won another championship as well. No one player in the NBA can stop TD. BTW I hate the Spurs.
Amare is only 25 or 26. He has not hit his prime as of yet. You will have many years hate yourself for calling him soft when he's winning rings in the next few years.

October 24, 2007  01:17 PM ET

Whoa sunswin. They're close, but I don't see rings in the future for the suns.

October 24, 2007  02:06 PM ET

They have as much a chance as Spurs and Mavs do. Amare has a more diverse game after time with Team USA, Nash and Matrix will do their thing. Grant Hill makes a big difference as well. I don't see Bowen staying on Nash with Hill in the Game. Last year they just put Parker on James Jones (Starting SF last year) knowing he couldn't do much with the ball leaving Bowen to hack, uh, guard Nash all series. Hill can post Parker up and score or make a play for another teammate. At any rate, it will be a great season with many intriguing stories to follow. I can't wait!

October 24, 2007  02:17 PM ET

OOOk... I agree with just one thing you said sunswin. "it will be a great season."

Watch out for Denver as well, they will be better this year if K-Mart comes back after his 100th knee surgery.

October 24, 2007  03:03 PM ET

woof woof

The big dog is back

October 24, 2007  03:38 PM ET

Don't mind the geek... He's from Texas which means one of three things:

1) Spurs fan riding high after his team bored their way to another championship. In which case he should be panicked by the now MUCH stronger Rockets in their division. Who by the way match up very well with the Spurs.

2) Rockets fan meaning he is anticipating an improved season with a much stronger squad. In which case he should be praying that they don't run into the Suns in the playoffs as Yao is completely useless every time they play.

3) Mavs fan meaning he's excited about his team winning 65+ games again. In which case he should be praying that they don't run into Golden State, Phoenix or Houston in the playoffs or it will be another early exit for the least worthy MVP of all time.

October 24, 2007  03:43 PM ET

Suns may or may not win this year but, Amare is only going to get better as he matures. Suns will be in the hunt for years to come and are bound to win it at some point. Denver will be good but they still don't have a point guard or anyone that can make an outside shot consitantly. They have the potential to be a great defensive team but only if they can keep the Kenyon, Karl, AI, Melo 4 some from imploding at some point in the season. They should be careful on who they get in return for JR, they are very close to being an elite team.

October 24, 2007  04:27 PM ET

here we go again sunswim let me educate you once again: Tim Ducan is on the Decline!!!

TIM DUNCAN AVERAGES:
97-98 21.7ppg 11.9 rebounds
98-99 21.7ppg 11.7rebounds
99-00 23.2ppg 12.2rebounds
00-01 22.2ppg 12.2rebounds
01-02 25.5ppg 12.5rebounds
02-03 23.3ppg 12.9rebounds
03-04 22.3ppg 12.9rebounds
04-05 20.3ppg 11.1rebounds
05-06 18.6 ppg 11.0rebounds
06-07 20.0ppg 10.6rebounds

As the stats clearly show he reached his peak in 01-02 Where he entered his prime somewhere after 03 he started DECLINING!!!! Im not saying he's not the best because he is and he's clearly still 10 notches above anybody else at that position but he is on the decline!! Yes Shaq is on the decline as well because time waits for no one!!!!!

ps.....Yall know the surefire way to tell a NBA Center is declining??? His points will drop off because his hands are slow reacting. Thats why you never Shaq get a pass and dunk quickly like he used to because his hand speed is slower to the ball!!! Father Time is cruel!!!!

October 24, 2007  04:38 PM ET

Prosleeper,
Who was the 1st one crying over the Horry foul back in March???AMARE, Who is single handly disrupting the locker room with his childish behavior?? AMARE, Who cried and cried when nobody was babying him during his injury??? AMARE, Why did they have to bring in a veteran profesional(Grant Hill) to show this boy how to act like a man??AMARE, Who hasnt show the slightest look of greatness win head2head with Tim Duncan???AMARE,

See Greg Popovich already knows this, its so easy to take Amare out his game its funny, 1st send Bruce Bowen to elbow him he'll get fustrated, Talk trash to him on the court, He doesnt like physical contact so extra positioning will take him out his game too.

Why do you think Steve Nash or Marion dont really like him?? Because he's still BOY mentally!!!!!

October 24, 2007  04:48 PM ET

get over yourself macadamien...

didnt it ever occur to you that Duncan's "decline" might just be him deferring to Parker and Ginobili? Just because his numbers are declining doesn't mean his game is.

And personal stuff aside, Amare GETS THE JOB DONE on the floor. There's absolutely no denying that. He's only what , 25 or 26? He'll mature eventually. But for now, i'm sure the Suns are content with what he does on the floor.

October 24, 2007  05:01 PM ET

spurs fans vs. suns fans..you guys are classic...

October 24, 2007  05:21 PM ET

As a mavs fan........that scares me

Amare, definatly not the geriatric spurs

October 24, 2007  06:17 PM ET

Donny... Don't you have a Kobe fanboy thread to comment on?

Mac...

Amare:
'06-7 Season average: 20.4 PPG & 9.6 RPG
vs. the Spurs: 25.3 PPG & 12.1 RPG

'04-5 Season average: 26.0 PPG & 8.9 RPG
vs. the Spurs: 29.9 PPG & 10.7 RPG

Yeah, Pop certainly took him out of his game. At least do some research before you start spewing ignorance.

October 25, 2007  01:03 AM ET

"Duncan is on the decline because his hand speed is slower".....ROFL !! That's a new one. Maybe you should put Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili's scoring averages beside Duncan's....oops, don't want to do that, it would show you have no clue what you are talking about. GM survey, released today, shows Duncan being predicted to finish 2nd in MVP voting after this year. Yeah, he's ready for the rocker. Houston IS a tough matchup for SA, but the Rockets are ALWAYS one of the most injury plaqued teams in the league. As for Phoenix, we DREAM every day of ruining yet another season for their crying fans and crying coach. I love the NBA !

October 25, 2007  01:09 AM ET

One last note. I LOVE Amare ! He will only get better, but they need to play him at power forward and quit making him guard centers. Dumping Thomas will hurt Phoenix in the playoffs this year, no doubt in my mind, as Amare is foul prone. Nash is an alltime great, but DAntoni has turned him into a crier and excuse maker. What a shame ! I cannot recall any coach in league history that cries more than DAntoni. Not a one. And the team eventually reflects the character of their coach.

October 25, 2007  09:16 AM ET

Mac,

Timmy is one of the best to ever play the game. Not flashy but very effective. The numbers you posted doesn't show a decline, they show consistence. Their isn't a coach in the league that won't take the "declining" Duncan today if possible.

Amare has own Duncan head to head. A few years ago in the playoff be his knee surgery he chewed Duncan up. For you to call him a boy is crazy. He is a beast. Will he ever be as good a Timmy? I doubt it.

BTW: I also doubt that may others will be as good as Timmy.
