08:26 AM ET 11.30 | Cliff Lee may beat Derek Jeter to the Yankees roster. The Rangers want to know where they stand with Lee soon, because if he isn't returning to Texas, the AL champions need to make other moves and are contemplating taking a run at trying to extract Zack Greinke from the Royals. ... The fact that Texas is making contingency plans regarding Lee not returning is an indication to the rest of the industry that Lee is headed to the Yankees, who believe the lefty will be signed during next week's winter meetings in Orlando.

Lee signing with the Yankees because of the money? And here I thought he was going to give the Rangers, Mariners, Phillies or Indians a home town discount.

6 years / 150-160 million.

I wouldn't want to be around Sabathia when he wants a raise next year because he can opt out at the end of next season.

I wonder how many other owners are going to look at this and get pushed over the edge for a cap?

Not enough.

I dont think we would see a cap any time before at least a decade form now... Its gonna have to get even more absurd than it is now...

They are going to have to shove it down the RedSox and Yankees throats. And that wont happen until a team or 2 goes under.

John Henry has already stated that he would welcome a cap.

Just slightly ironic that a "Crusader" would complain about something being "shoved" down other peoples throats?
