08:13 AM ET 12.02 | The way Nate Burleson sees it, he was just stating his beliefs. "Yeah, I said we're going to win on Sunday," he said. "We only have five games left and my goal is to finish 7-9. Like I've been saying all year, we don't have a team on our schedule that we can't beat." He might have also been trying to make sure his teammates were as engaged this week as he is in preparing for the 8-3 Bears. "I am not saying the Chicago Bears aren't good," Burleson said. "They are a very good football team. ... I am not going to tell you I hope we win or that we're going to lose in a close battle. Whoever steps onto our home field on Sunday and tries to leave with a victory, I say we're going to win."

Not happening...

The Lions can't beat anyone but the Redskins.

Too much players B.S. going on. This guy will get his hat handed to him big time!

December 2, 2010  08:45 AM ET

Agreed. Without either of their top two QBs, the Lions are going to have a hard time beating anyone the rest of the season. Too bad, too, because they had a real shot at being good this year.

Not happening. Look at the photo, it's hard to beat anyone when you're tackling each other.

December 2, 2010  08:52 AM ET

If the Lions do win, it will not be because of you, Burleson.

...and using poor tackling technique, nonetheless. #13 will receive a fine for a blow to the helmet, coming soon.

December 2, 2010  08:56 AM ET

how about they finish 6-10 and lose this next one? I like the sound of that...

December 2, 2010  08:57 AM ET

"Whoever steps onto our home field on Sunday and tries to leave with a victory" ...usually does based on the evidence since Barry Sanders retired

Based on what we saw on Thanksgiving Day...there is more resistance opening a screen door in a wind storm than the D you all exhibited. I don't think that speaks Wins son.

The screen door was Alphonso Smith

He was totally undressed in front of a national audience. pretty embarrassing.

"I say we're going to win."

I'd say your chances of being waived are better.

Hey watch those Redskin comments! Wait, yep you're right.(hangs head and walks away).

Why does some guy guaranteeing a win even make news now? Every week someone does this then they go out and lose. Even the Namath guarantee has been blown up into something it never was.

So put up your game day salary on it for charity or shuuutuuup!

December 2, 2010  10:35 AM ET

Either believe you are going to win or never walk onto the field to play the game at all.

I think Burleson is trying to get these guys fired up... they aren't a bad team really, they just don't know how to win. Granted, saying you are gonna beat the other team is pretty risky though, Anthony Smith (I think thats his name) comes to mind saying they were gonna walk all over the Pats a few years ago and Brady turned around and purposefully started throwing touchdowns in his direction.
