Morris: Wolverines in reverse

09:18 AM ET 12.03 | Dave Brandon's reluctance to formally endorse Rich Rodriguez may not be a good sign for the head coach, but at least one former Michigan legend believes the problems run deep. "Bo Schembechler always said you're either moving forward or moving backwards," former star Jamie Morris said. "We're not moving anywhere right now. We're standing still. A decision needs to be made now, one way or the other, so we can move forward and bring everyone back together." Morris was the lead running back on the 1985 team honored at the banquet. That team upset Nebraska in the Fiesta Bowl, finishing No. 2 in the country in the final polls. Those who attended this 25-year reunion happily posed for pictures and shared memories. A quarter of a century later, they remain inextricably bounded together. It's the internal divisiveness within the extended Michigan football fraternity regarding Rodriguez's direction that bothers Morris most. "I want the old Michigan back," Morris said.

Nobody to blame but themselves in this matter. There really is an easy fix if they have the balls for it. Apparently they don't.

When reached for comment, Rich Rodriguez said, "Reverse: It's the new forward."

Maybe they should just line up with their backs to the LOS.

Isn't there already a big enough faction that will never accept RichRod for there to ever be unity? Right or wrong, I think a large number of Michigan boosters have already soured on him and nothing short of a 10 win 2011 season including a conf championship and a win over tOSU will change that. With the odds already stacked against that, why put off the inevitable?

Their D is already doing that... At least from the games I watched... They were always chasing

They call that run and bump coverage.

Athletes have changed over time too - many players arrive as "the shiz" and are in it just for themselves (what can this school do to boost my stock for the NFL). Don't know that the camaraderie Morris is a part of exists on many of today's teams.

Is this guy still employed?

No doubt. I mean, at the rate the state of Michigan lays off workers, and this dude still has a job?

:p

Or maybe Jim didnt want to be in an awkard position cuz he will take the job?

I don't know...he's got a good thing going at Stanford. It's amazing what he's done there.

By the look of the photo, Rich Rod is mulling your comment over. Or maybe he's already agreed with you and has moved on to,

"If I had to pick one, which would it be?"

RichRod recently went to the Military Academy in France for Tank training. 5 gears in reverse, 1 gear forward....

Do you mean someone actually buys this crap??

UM only options are Harbaugh and Miles. I only think Harbaugh is up to the task of taking on Tressel and tOSU. How much money does it take to get harbaugh to UM ... and will they all (Alums/former players) actually back him?

That would improve the speed of the "oskie" response on turnovers.
