Notre Dame football coach Charlie Weis flew to St. Paul on Tuesday to see newly committed Michael Floyd, but the Cretin-Derham Hall wide receiver sat out the Raiders' 58-0 first-round playoff victory over Henry Sibley because of a tender ankle.

Gimme a break. Notre Dame's problems with recruiting REAL top-notch talent will continue, ironically, as long as the institution maintains its high academic standards. They are unwilling to compromise in that area -- and they should be applauded for that. They don't have the luxury of being able to recruit the blue-chippers that, should we say, maintain less than standard grade point averages such as the athletes at Ohio State, Michigan, ALL the SEC schools, Texas, etc.

Are they still calling this a football program? Not even the media machine that always over ranks ND can help this year.

I think this Michael Floyd's kid runs this page. How many stories of him have we had in the last two months?

October 25, 2007  10:22 AM ET

I have an idea...let's right a story about every stupid thing that happens at Notre Dame...wait, wait, that already happens. Who cares about a 1-7 coach who missed seeing a high school player play?

..Get in ma Belly!

October 25, 2007  10:42 AM ET

I think Charlie has been loosing weight since he's been seen
hanging around the coaches from Kansas and Maryland. It
seems he just can't get any food because these two have it
cleared off before he sits down. Wow, now thats a story, could
we get off the old overweight topic since it just shows how
classless and stupid a lot of these posters really are(great
insite boys).

Weis may have missed the recruit, but he sure didn't miss a meal!!

October 25, 2007  12:21 PM ET

The only reason these irrelevant articles keep getting posted is because these columnists know it will get the most attention, most of which (prob. 95%) coming from ND haters. If you guys would stop responding, they would stop writing.

Wa2Sea: Nice comment, must have taken you all day to figure that one out.

Go Gators!

Be patient ND fans! You'll be alright in a year or two.

Heis23 - How can you be certain what the next two years will hold? Your chief has never been a head coach. You are now learning that it would have been better to get a proven commodity. AFTER ALL YOU ALL ARE THE MIGHTY NOTRE DAME!! THE ALMIGHT 1-7 NOTRE DAME! After all you all are really playing close games being out scored 251 to 66 thus far. It???s been some close ones: 38-0 USC/MICHIGAN, 33-3 Georgia Tech. 31-10. Close games, too bad you all couldn???t score 21 more touchdowns and win those games. Weis is really an offensive GURU. Isn???t he? NNNNNNIIIIIIICCCCCCCEEEEEEEEE, I hope you all continue hanging your hat on an unproven product. BURN!!! LOL!!!!
