Jets losing leader for season

The Jets' defensive leader faces the likelihood of season-ending knee surgery, the Daily News has learned. Jonathan Vilma had a battery of tests the last two days, which revealed a "significant" injury, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

This only compounds how stupid Tannenbaum and Mangini were not to trade him in the offseason when it was apparent after the first year in the 3-4 that he would not be able to continue his ProBowl play in this system, especially after picking up David Harris. I think they could have gotten a starter, 1st day pick, or at least a quality back-up for him. Now, after a significant injury, his trade value is diminished. I am so disappointed in Tangini.

Tough break. He's a good linebacker but if he wasn't in the 3-4 he would be a dominant backer.

surprised Mangini didn't p**s him off in the off-season and run him out of town like he did with his offensive leader, Kendall. Maybe THIS off-season is when Mangini will pull that stunt...
