08:23 AM ET 12.06 | Redskins tight ends coach Jon Embree spent some of his postgame time shaking hands and saying goodbye to Chris Cooley, Fred Davis and Logan Paulsen in advance of being announced as Colorado's next head coach. "It's a job I've always wanted," said Embree, a Colorado alum. Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said he meant to address his team about Embree's impending departure after the game, but in the wake of a 31-7 loss it slipped his mind.

Ok the guy is an alumnus but I think it's a mistake. No previous head coaching experience and now he's taking a job where expectations will be high and they are moving to a new conference. I think it's better to hire a guy who was the HEAD COACH at a small school than to hire someone who is an NFL assistant. This probably says a lot about how much the school was offering in salary for the position.

Don't know that the expectations are that high - they're a fairly humbled team right now (after the Hawkins years). The move to the PAC 12 will keep the expectations further in check!

What else can they do? Not too many want this job. Probably right on with the $$ comment.

I'm willing to take the Minnesota job, on a reduced salary contract ($1.5M/3yrs), but not the CU job. Just can't stand the thought of cleaning buffalo chips off my shoes!

+1 This path didn't work out too well for Minne did it?

Can't say I feel too sad about this.

I'm hoping Tech will be partaking in bigger and better things, but I can't say I would mind a Colorado-GT Sun Bowl matchup in the future.

I think the guy has 3 years to get the team to 8-4. If Colorado was joining the ACC, I could see it happening but not in the NEW PAC 10. Oregon, USC, Arizona, Stanford, Utah, are all way better than the Buffs. The other teams in the conference are at least on par with them.

Well at least the PAC gets the TV set in Boulder.

People in Boulder watch football? On Saturday?

At least that what the PAC's rational was - do you think they're 2nd guessing?

Who???

Who???

Their own superior intellect. All of those research institutions, and they decided CU was a good add to the conference.

My data says otherwise.

And now that the AAU decided to fix its glaringly obvious oversight and ask Georgia Tech to join, I don't feel the need to rant about the Pac-10 and research!

Edsall, Leach, Sumlin, Mike Bellotti, there were too many choices for this hire unless none of them wanted it. That goes back to the salary.Edsall would be great for Colorado. He looks like he came out of a Coors commercial. Mountains and stream in the background "Nothing goes greater with the great taste of an ice cold Coors beer than some Colorado football season tickets. Oh yeah, drink responsibly."

+1 FAMU - I hear CU athletics is hiring a Media Relations Director too - you're a shoe-in!

"Embree leaves 'Skins with a jolt"

Could have been worse. He could have left them with an STD.
