08:04 AM ET 12.07 | If the planets are to align for football in Los Angeles, they may do so in a hurry. If Tim Leiweke does his job over the next year in laying the groundwork for a downtown events center, expect the Chargers to announce shortly after Feb. 1, 2012, they will be here to start the 2012 season, probably playing in the Coliseum. Talk to anyone who has spent time with Chargers owner Dean Spanos -- and Spanos already has a pretty good idea of the endgame. Ordinarily, that's a loss in the playoffs, but now it's all about moving to L.A.

Isn't that where they started 50 years ago?

But then where will the Vikings go?

Whoa! Scathing comment in that last sentence about losing in the playoffs. Sounds like a disappointed fan wrote this article.

By the looks of last nights game they could use another team in NY.

That was a SHOT delivered by the LA Times...

Still say - they are the most likely.

Good move for the SUPER Chargers. SD is a beautiful city, but no new stadium means time to move on. LA will give them a warm new home.

Isn't Canada still looking for a team? That would be a good place for the Vikings.

In an unrelated topic. RIP Dandy Don. Now we can turn out the lights, the party is truly over. I hope he gets to take another shot at Howard Cossell in the after life. That always made me laugh.

Hope they don't stay at the Coliseum. Its as ancient as Rome. LA needs a new venue!

Indeed a Dallas original.

Maybe 2 or 3 teamns should move to LA, that way at least one will actually stay there for an extended period of time.

Howard was a lawyer. I doubt that he'll be spending the afterlife in the same place as Dandy Don.

What will poor little Timmy do about his San Diego banner....

The Coliseum is a boil on the **** of the earth. Why give up the climate in San Diego for LA?

December 7, 2010  10:31 AM ET

This does make sense.

$$$ money ... plain and simple.

Doesn't this move require the owners approval. LA is not a football city they like surfing better.
