10:00 AM ET 12.07 | Ales Hemsky may not be back until after the New Year. Head coach Tom Renney suggested on Monday that the Oilers star winger could be out for a month. "Groins are temperamental in terms of healing," said Tom Renney. "I think it's going to take some time. It could be upwards of a month." Hemsky has not been moved to the injured reserve list but will be when the Oilers decide which of their farmhands will eventually be recruited. Both Liam Reddox and Linus Omark are at the top of the Oklahoma City Barons scoring chart and will surely be the two front runners for consideration. The flashy Omark has 13 goals, 13 assists and is plus-six while Reddox has 13 goals, 10 assists and is plus-11.

So, the interns finally shoveled their way to work!
From what I've seen of the Oilers, I wasn't impressed with Hemsky's effort anyway. And Linus Omark has been making a statement for himself in Oklahoma so this might work out well after all.

Good luck to Hemsky. I've always liked his name, Ales. It's up there with my other favourite, Beers.

I'd like to think that this season will be it for Hemsky and the Oilers. All we ever hear about him is how he's an all-world talent who's just about ready to turn the corner. All we ever SEE from him is weak efforts, poor decision making, and injuries. Groin injuries especially tend to be indicative of a players' lack of conditioning. While I know this to be a re-aggravation, the original injury is what I'm talking about.
If he still has value - which I am sure he does - the Oil should try to trade him once he's back to health. If there is a better example of what has been wrong with the Oilers over the past 3-4 years, I can't think of it. Get some more prospects, or a heart & soul type player for him and improve the team's competitive spirit. How much better would this team be if they had Lucic instead of Hemsky? Brendan Morrow would be too much to ask, but that type of guy is what they should be after...and getting Hemsky's Tin Man act out of town should be the way to get it.

What is it? Did he put in one of those fluorecent coil things that take 10 minutes to warm up? A team can score 3 or 4 goals in that time span!
Hmmm! That might cut back on the goals against after all!

The Edmonton Oilers will save an estimated $3 million on their electric bill this season thanks to new energy efficient red goal lights installed at Rexall Place by environmental activist David Suzuki.
Read the article and all I can say is, WOW! Save $3 million? Just how many goals do they anticipate will get passed Khabibulin? For $3 mil, that a lot of flashing!
