Alvarez: Maturi didn't offer UM job

08:15 AM ET 12.09 | While Joel Maturi said -- after being asked more than once -- he offered Minnesota's head coaching position to Barry Alvarez, the Wisconsin AD remembers things differently. "I offered it to Barry Alvarez, and he didn't take the job," Maturi said. Maturi claimed it was a serious offer. ... But Alvarez said it never happened. "You know what?" said Alvarez, who was not aware of the story. "[Maturi] talked to me a lot about that job and what type of person to look for and what do you look for in the interview process, that type of thing. But, no, he didn't talk to me about taking the job."

This guy Maturi is beginning to look very bad. He seems to run his mouth quite a bit without backing it up. "Hot" coaches won't want to work for a guy like him who fires the only winning coach they've had in 30 years (Mason) and now conducts business like this.
